We recently had the chance to connect with Lisa Gomez and have shared our conversation below.
Lisa, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
When it comes to intelligence, energy or integrity all three matter-but for me, integrity is the most important. Intelligence is a broad & complex concept, with many forms such as academic intelligence, social intelligence & emotional intelligence. These are highly important to be well rounded, but without integrity they lose much of there value. Energy would be great, but definitely not the most important trait to me. Integrity however, speaks to character and identity- its who you are when nobody is looking. To me that is the most important quality a person can have.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Lisa Gomez, I am practically a native Arizonian, I have lived here since I was 6 months old. First and foremost, I identify as a God-fearing woman, a wife, a mom and “GG”. , Professionally, I serve as a Reverend & a Licensed Professional Counselor & a Nationally Certified Clinical Supervisor.
I lead 2 organizations-Becoming Transformed & Becoming Transformed Healing. I’m most know for Becoming Transformed, which is a multidisciplinary counseling agency in the West Valley, that has been serving the community since 2009. Our wonderful team of providers see children, adults & couples offering counseling and medication management, which includes functional psychiatry. Together, we take a whole-person approach—supporting mind, body, and spirit.
Our sister organization, Becoming Transformed Healing, is a nonprofit ministry dedicated to guiding individuals through their spiritual healing journey.
At the heart of all my work is a passion for helping people transform mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Bringing hope to the hopeless, healing the broken hearted and finding freedom from bondage.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My grandma Jane was a beautiful influence in my life. She was fun, loving and encouraging, she always saw something in me that I could not see. She would often tell me that I was special & that God has plans for me. I am still learning & growing and have no plans of ever stopping. I think continued growth in mind, body & spirit is a life long goal. I really try to live what I teach & practice what I preach.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have been many times in my life when I wanted to give up—on life, on God, on my work—especially when my eyes were fixed on the problems instead of the solutions. In those seasons it can feel impossible to see past the circumstance. Sometimes, in the midst of darkness, it takes either great effort or the steady support of others to notice even a sliver of light, or to hold onto the hope that light can return.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that family matters most to me. So many things in life are fleeting, but the time we share with loved ones is truly irreplaceable.
If you asked my family, though, I think they’d say what matters most to me is my walk with God. They know I love and adore them with my whole being, but because they see me daily, they also see that my relationship with the Godhead is my greatest treasure.
I believe God is the center of all things. A relationship with Him is the beginning of transformation, and that transformation naturally flows into everything else that matters—especially my relationships with the people I love.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people say I was real — the same person everywhere I went: family, work, church. That my life reflected my work, faith, and effort to keep a healthy balance. My physical health may have been imperfect, but I want to be remembered for integrity, love, and faithfulness.
