Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Kris Harris of Tucson-Oro Valley

We recently had the chance to connect with Kris Harris and have shared our conversation below.

Kris , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
One of the most misunderstood things about Kore Fitness is that people think it’s just another gym or Pilates studio. In reality, we specialize in personalized, rehabilitative movement—combining Pilates, functional fitness, and evidence-based practices to help people move better, recover from injury, and build strength at any age or ability level.

We’re not about high-intensity, one-size-fits-all workouts. Every session is customized, whether you’re dealing with chronic pain, post-surgery recovery, or simply want to feel stronger and more mobile. It’s a space where quality movement, education, and long-term wellness come first—not quick fixes.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kristine Harris, owner of Kore Fitness in Oro Valley, AZ. I’m a certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor with over 20 years of experience in fitness, rehabilitation, and functional movement. At Kore Fitness, I specialize in personalized, restorative training that bridges the gap between physical therapy and traditional exercise. My mission is to help people move better, feel stronger, and live pain-free through customized Pilates and strength-based programs.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What breaks the bonds between people—and what restores them?
Bonds between people often break due to misunderstanding, unmet expectations, and a lack of honest communication. When trust is eroded and vulnerability is replaced by ego or distance, connection fades. But those bonds can be restored through empathy, open dialogue, and a willingness to truly listen. Healing begins when we take responsibility, offer grace, and choose to show up with consistency, compassion, and care.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes—there have been moments when I felt overwhelmed, especially in the early days of building Kore Fitness. Balancing the demands of running a business, supporting clients, and staying grounded in my own purpose wasn’t always easy. There were times I questioned whether I was making an impact or if all the effort was worth it. But every time I saw a client regain strength, move without pain, or feel empowered in their body again—it reminded me why I started. Those moments kept me going. They still do.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would probably say that what matters most to me is helping others feel strong, seen, and supported—both physically and emotionally. They’d tell you I care deeply about authentic connection, purposeful movement, and creating spaces where people can heal and grow. Whether it’s through Kore Fitness, a meaningful conversation, or simply showing up for someone—I lead with heart, and I’m passionate about making others feel better in their bodies and more grounded in their lives.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m fully present—in the quiet moments after a meaningful session with a client, during an early morning hike in the desert, or while pouring candles with intention and calm. There’s a deep sense of peace that comes from doing work that aligns with my purpose and being surrounded by stillness, nature, or creativity. It’s in those simple, grounded moments that everything feels clear and connected.
