We’re looking forward to introducing you to Dani Christakos. Check out our conversation below.
Dani, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
I start my day at 6am with two cups of coffee. I then check my emails and respond to any inquiries! Next stop is a trip to Mayesh to pick up flowers for the days events!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I have been a local florist in the Scottsdale area for the past eight years. After spending 17 years at home raising my three children, I decided to chase my dreams of opening a creative floral studio. What started as a passion for floral design, quickly became something even more meaningful when I began teaching workshops. I discovered how much people loved gathering to learn a new skill and how flowers could really turn an ordinary night out into something truly memorable. The Flower Garage is one of my greatest joys. When I am not surrounded by flowers, you’ll find me traveling to new destinations! I am working on a few really exciting projects right now! They are really exciting for our company! Stay tuned….
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
I grew up modestly and started working as far back as I can remember. If I wanted something, I had to earn it—nothing was handed to me. That early sense of responsibility shaped my work ethic, and it’s stuck with me through raising my kids and building this business from the ground up.
What began as a creative hobby quickly turned into something more—and once I saw the potential, I never looked back. I’ve poured my heart into The Flower Garage and am always looking for new ways to grow, connect, and bring flowers to more people in the Valley.
I turned 50 this year, and I often think about the fact that I launched this business at 42. Then I remind myself—Martha Stewart started at 50. So I guess I’m just getting started!!
Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
My husband and I have been married for 28 years, and I’m so grateful for the unwavering support he gives me—especially when I come to him with one of my “crazy” ideas. He’s been my biggest cheerleader through every season, and I truly couldn’t do any of this without him.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
One thing my friends would definitely say about me: I care deeply about real, honest relationships. I’ve never been one to pretend or gloss things over. If something feels off, I trust my gut and I don’t ignore it. It’s just how I’ve always moved through life in a genuine, direct, and always true. That same approach carries into my business. I show up fully for my clients, build relationships based on trust, and always keep things real, whether we’re planning a wedding or arranging flowers at a workshop. People can feel when it’s authentic, and that matters to me.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think what people would miss most is the community we’ve built around flowers here in the Valley. Our workshops are more than just arranging flowers, they’re an escape, a reset, a space to unwind and connect. We’ve created something people genuinely look forward to.
But don’t worry, we’re just getting started. The Flower Garage is growing, and we’re not going anywhere.
