Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Breanna Stone of Phoenix, Camelback

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Breanna Stone. Check out our conversation below.

Breanna, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I have felt recently extremely proud of my app being launched!! An idea I had last year turned to learning to code which resulted in a live app on the Apple App Store in April! In just 3 months, there has been 600 downloads from people who genuinely LOVE the app. It’s called Get Adulting and helps you manage your life – your health, your garage, your pets, and so much more – all with built in education! I am most proud of how it’s been received with mental health organizations that specifically help Neurodivergent individuals. I didn’t realize when I first began working on this app how much of a resource it can actually be.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Breanna Stone, but I go by Bree! I have been working in marketing for almost 7 years now, and graduate this month with my bachelors of science in Game Business and eSports. While working my full time job as a digital account manager for an incredible apartment management company, I launched my very own app from an idea I had last year! It began when I waited too long to get an oil change and had to get a new engine. It was my mistake, but I envisioned an app that I could input my last oil change date and receive reminders leading up to when it’s due. The app also now features adding the type of oil, any notes, mileage estimator, and built-in education on how to check your oil (because not everyone is taught these things)!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
For me personally, I have experienced a lot of ‘people pleasing’ in my life where I catered to other people more than myself. I am learning to prioritize myself while still showing up for others in a way that reflects who I am. Indulging in my passions and asking myself ‘what do I actually want to do’ has really helped me show up as my best self in social settings and feel better about the things I love.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Many times with this app development. Honestly, I didn’t have a coding background so the idea of bringing my idea actually to life from concept to functioning, downloadable app was something I didn’t think was possible. There were also several times I would get stuck adding a feature. For example, I really wanted customization to be a feature in the app so I added the ability for you to change the app color. Hundreds of error messages and just a few panic attacks later, I got the update to work and it’s one of my favorite options! There was also another time right before I published the app live that I was worried about how the app would be received. What if people hated it? But I pushed past that and now the app is a resource at actual mental health orgs and helps hundreds of people.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
That mass-use of AI and building it in to daily functions/platforms is an okay thing. It doesn’t need to be everywhere. There needs to be limitations.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Not getting into credit card debt (hahaha)
