Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Alison Stine of Old Town Scottsdale

Alison Stine shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Alison, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
As a new mom, my mornings are pretty busy! I wake up around 5:30 am and usually put some dishes away, fold some laundry, take the dog out, eat a quick breakfast, and get ready for my 1-year-old to wake up around 6 am. Once she is up, we get her ready, play a little, and feed her breakfast. I have my first cup of coffee while getting ready and am out the door between 7 and 8 am.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional and the Founder of Stine Wealth Management PLLC. I work directly with my clients to help plan and prepare for retirement and other financial goals. Our core values are Empathy, Ethics, and Education. We take a very customized and thorough approach when working with individuals. Finances can be overwhelming and stressful, but we hope to create clarity and help our clients feel organized, confident, and comfortable.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I have always had a love for organizing and numbers. From a very early age, I would clean up friends’ houses during play dates and organize items at stores that had fallen or been misplaced. I have also always enjoyed numbers and counting things. We would be out to eat, and I would be like, “Hey Mom, there are 52 tiles on the ceiling.” I never thought that these skills would translate into my career, but I have the opportunity to organize and help make sense of a lot of complex information, numbers, and options for my clients.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
I would consider myself a people pleaser. I don’t like conflict, and I want others to be happy. Therefore, I have a fear of upsetting others, which can hold me back because difficult conversations inevitably need to take place, and there are times when I need to prioritize myself more.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Being a mom! Although I absolutely love my career and being a business owner, I have always wanted to have children. I recently celebrated my first Mother’s Day, and a very close friend surprised me with flowers and a note that said, “As long as I’ve known you, all you’ve wanted was to be a mom.” It wasn’t easy to have our daughter, but I am so grateful that I have the ability to serve my clients and simultaneously raise a child!

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would get really serious with my time. I would stop doing things that don’t bring me joy and set better boundaries with my schedule. I would prioritize myself more, make more time to work out, see friends, and travel. I would really maximize every moment and make an effort to bring a smile to someone’s face every day. So the question now is, why don’t I do this anyway? Answer: I should!
