Hi Shyenne , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my photography business in 2021. What began as a hobby has grown into a successful and thriving business. I am incredibly grateful for all of the wonderful clients I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with over the years. Their support, along with God’s blessings, has made this journey possible, and I would not be where I am today without them.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I’m sure every entrepreneur can relate when it comes to running a business. While many people don’t get to see the behind-the-scenes aspects, every entrepreneur experiences challenges and bumps along the way. I have always viewed those moments as opportunities for trial and error, taking what I’ve learned and applying it to continuously improve.
When I first started my photography business, one of my biggest struggles was trying to niche down and discover what I truly enjoyed photographing, as well as what I excelled at. Over time, I realized that portrait photography was where my passion and strengths aligned. In the beginning, I wanted to work with everyone and photograph everything, but that mindset was short-lived. I eventually became comfortable with the fact that not every genre of photography was meant for me, and that finding my niche would allow me to better serve the clients I was truly meant to work with.

ShotByShy Photography is a photography business based in Arizona. Founded by myself, Shyenne Sweet. I specialize in portraits, personal branding photography, and events.
What sets me apart from other photographers is my photography style. I love creating bold, true-to-tone imagery that captures people in an authentic and timeless way.
One of the things I’m most proud of when it comes to my brand is that people know of ShotByShy. I’m proud that my business is flourishing and continuing to grow. I’m proud that I receive referrals and recommendations, and most importantly, I’m proud that people trust me to capture their memories and special moments.
I want people to know that I’m always open to working with those who genuinely connect with my work and my brand. I’m not just looking to be someone’s photographer, I love building relationships with clients who appreciate my vision and choose to work with me because they truly love what my brand ShotByShy represents.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Some advice I would give to anyone just starting out in photography is to stay consistent.
Over the years, I’ve had some wonderful opportunities, but those opportunities came through consistency and continuing to show up for myself and my business.
Not every inquiry will turn into a booking, and that’s okay. There will be many “no’s” before there is a “yes,” and that’s okay too. Just never give up on the goal and never give up on the things you want to achieve.
Stay consistent, trust the process, and you’ll be amazed at where that consistency can lead you.
