Hidden Gems: Meet Stacy Weber of Tru You Consulting, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stacy Weber.

Stacy Weber

Hi Stacy, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Northern California and grew up near the beach. While it was beautiful, it was usually cold and foggy! I’m a warm-weather person and was happy when we moved inland to San Jose, where it was sunny and warm! In my twenties, I still hadn’t found the right career path. What I did know was I wanted the ability to make a lot of money. So I thought about looking for a position as an outside salesperson. I could write my paycheck if I were on commission! That sounded good! I was lucky to find an outside sales position selling beauty products to salons and beauty supplies. I thought this could be fun! Little did I know it would be a lot of hard work, 20 calls a day, and very little pay since I was on straight commission. I often came home crying and thinking, what did I get myself into? I’m never going to make any money. However, I was driven to make it happen and knew I could figure it out. I was lucky to be a part of a supportive company that gave me great training and believed in me, even when I wasn’t sure at times that I believed in myself!

Fast forward 3 years. I went from $2,000 to $30,000 in sales a month! I was finally making money! Soon after, I was excited to be promoted to regional sales manager leading and training other sales consultants to build their businesses! I loved it, and I thrived! I loved supporting the sales consultants to reach their full potential and sales goals! I continued to grow my leadership skills and was promoted again to divisional sales manager overseeing 3 states and 60 salespeople. I was happy in that position. However, after 23 years and 2 company acquisitions, I was very stressed and unfulfilled in that position. I was traveling a lot and not growing. I felt I didn’t know who I was anymore. It was time for a change. I prepared to leave my corporate position and start my own business the following year. It was time for growth and to follow my passion. I wanted to live on my terms and find myself again. I got my Personal Fitness Training and Law of Attraction Life Coaching Certifications. That year was the happiest I had been in a long time, and I made the most money ever. What I learned gave me the tools to help me be happier and help others do the same.

In 2016, I started Tru You Training, LLC, and then changed it to Tru You Consulting, LLC after moving to Arizona last year. I’ve taken my experience in outside sales, training, and leadership while combining it with life coaching to help people be successful in sales and be happy in their personal lives too! I love what I do serving small businesses and driven entrepreneurs! My husband, Ernie, and I love living in the Cave Creek, Phoenix area! We enjoy the openness, the incredible views, and the friendly people. I look forward to continuing to build relationships and collaborate with small business owners in the Cave Creek, Scottsdale, and Phoenix areas. We all win when we grow and support each other.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far? Has it been a smooth road?
There were struggles along the way in my career! In my corporate sales career, there were always sales goals to meet. It was hard not to tie my worth to whether I made your monthly sales goal. Being a sales consultant or sales manager is not for the faint of heart! You get more no’s than you do yeses. You must know that the more you make connections and build relationships, the more you can increase your sales. Confidence is key to persevering and being successful long term! Starting my own business came with a new set of challenges! I was no longer promoting another company’s products and services. I was promoting my services, and I. It was a big shift! I had to build my confidence to a whole new level, and remembering the 25 years of sales, sales training, management experience, and coaching certifications all needed to be at the top of my mind. It’s now 7 years into my new business. I enjoy passing on my corporate sales and entrepreneurial experiences to help others shorten their learning curve and help them increase their sales and success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your business.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Just like many other companies, my business completely stopped for a while. I used the tools I help others use, deep breathing, meditation, and exercise to release stress and anxiety. I did pivot during that time and found a way to continue to serve others. My husband (a general contractor) and I built a gym in our garage. I started doing virtual fitness bootcamps almost every day to help people stay fit and healthy when they could not go to the gym. It was also a stress reliever and a way to help everyone stay connected when we couldn’t meet in person. It helped others, but it also helped me mentally, physically, and financially. In the latter part of 2020, past coaching clients came back to me for help navigating their emotions and figuring out how to pivot their businesses and find opportunities. I learned there is always a way to serve. You have to be open to seeing the opportunities.
