Hi Shvonne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My story with web design started long before Glass Web Services became a business. I first learned how to build websites when I was in high school, the summer before my junior year, through a program called BridgeNet. I had always loved computers since I was a little girl but that experience opened my eyes to what technology could do for people and businesses.
After learning those skills, I started building websites for small businesses in my hometown. One of the most memorable opportunities from that time was being hired by the Bridgeport Regional Business Council to build their first website. I later returned to BridgeNet, which eventually became Workplace, for additional summers to help teach other students how to design websites before I left to attend Stillman College.
From there, my career continued to grow in technology, customer support, operations, and leadership. I spent years helping people solve problems, understand systems, and use technology more effectively. I worked in roles where I supported teams, improved processes, led technical operations, and helped create better experiences for customers and internal users. Those experiences shaped how I think about service, communication, and leadership.
Over time, I noticed a common challenge among small business owners. Many were excellent at what they did, but their online presence did not reflect the quality of their work. Some had outdated websites, unclear messaging, poor search visibility, or no real strategy connecting their website to business growth. Others simply felt overwhelmed by the technical side of being visible online.
That is what led me to create Glass Web Services. I wanted to build a company that helps small business owners improve their websites and digital presence in a way that feels clear, practical, and supportive. We provide website design, maintenance and support, SEO, Google Business Profile optimization, blog management, and digital marketing support.
What brought me to where I am today is a combination of early exposure, years of technical and leadership experience, and a desire to help business owners feel more confident online. Glass Web Services allows me to bring all of that together. It is not just about building websites. It is about helping small businesses be seen, trusted, and better positioned to grow.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it has not been a completely smooth road, but I think that is true for most entrepreneurs.
One of my biggest struggles was learning to get out of my own way. Even though I work with small business owners, I am one too. I understand what it feels like to wear all the hats, make every decision, manage every detail, and feel like everything has to go through you in order to be done correctly.
In the beginning, I wanted to make sure every piece was just right. I was trying to launch, serve clients, make decisions, create systems, manage the brand, and keep everything moving. Even though I knew I was maxed out, it still took me time to bring additional experts onto the team. Once I finally did, it gave me the bandwidth I needed to think more strategically, serve clients better, and allow the business to grow in a healthier way.
Another struggle, which is a little humbling to admit given what I do, is that my own website was not where it needed to be at first. When I launched Glass Web Services, I put something together quickly just to get started and told myself I would circle back to improve it when I had time. But, like many business owners learn, the time did not magically appear. I had to intentionally make the time and create space within my team to get the changes done.
That experience actually made me even more empathetic toward my clients. I know what it is like to be so busy running the business that your own online presence gets pushed to the side. It reminded me that small business owners do not need judgment. They need clarity, support, and a realistic path forward.
The road has had its challenges, but each one has made me a better business owner and a better partner to the clients we serve.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is having the freedom to build a life and business that feels aligned with who I am.
On the business side, I am happiest when I can help a small business owner move from feeling overwhelmed or invisible online to feeling clear, confident, and proud of how their business shows up. I enjoy seeing that moment when something clicks for a client, whether it is understanding their website strategy, improving their online presence, or realizing they do not have to figure everything out alone. That makes me happy because I know the work is not just about websites or marketing. It is about helping people feel supported as they grow something that matters to them.
On the personal side, I am a full-time RVer. My husband, William, our dog, Ruckus, and I live in our motorhome and travel throughout the United States. That lifestyle brings me a lot of joy because it gives us the chance to experience different places, meet different people, and visit our children, who are spread out along the East Coast.
One of my favorite places we have stayed so far was a horse ranch in Maryland. We were there for two weeks, and they had some of the most beautiful Clydesdale horses. It was peaceful, quiet, and grounding in a way that reminded me to slow down and appreciate the life we are creating.
I think happiness for me comes from a mix of purpose, freedom, family, and peace. I love meaningful work, but I also value the ability to enjoy life beyond the work.
