Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Lyons.
Hi Anna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am originally from East Texas and my husband is from Southern California. We met in-between those two places in Arizona (the Grand Canyon to be specific). Our story is fairly classic for an elder Millennial: We moved around between Arizona, California, and Washington. Pre 2020 we had a family travel blog and podcast, which sadly did not survive covid. My background has been in healthcare while my husband, Scott, has been in IT pre-sales. I was very disenchanted by the corporate healthcare system and took a long break to raise our two boys. During that “break” I enjoyed writing and producing our travel blog/podcast. In late 2020 we sold our house in Washington and moved to Flagstaff, Arizona to be closer to family.
In the early aughts of covid I found myself working in an orthodontic office. There I saw how privately run healthcare offices worked and was inspired to foray back into the field. I spent six years learning the ins and outs of a small business as well as the dental specific components to said office. I was inspired to lead and grow private practices in similar situations so that they could continue to thrive. My husband and I started Lyons & Lyons Consulting to do just that!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has certainly not been smooth. Getting our name out there is the biggest struggle. Social media marketing is brutal and an ever changing landscape that I’m not sure I’ll ever fully understand as a Millennial!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Lyons & Lyons Consulting?
We are a fully remote dental specific consulting company. Our focus is on IT systems and business operations. Our goal is to bring the C-suite expertise of a big company, to small dental/orthodontic practices. What sets us apart is that we deal with the unsexy parts of running a business. There is no point in having an amazing sales team if one’s operations and communications are a hot mess. We are here to make sure every member of the team has HIPAA compliant tech, safe guest WiFi, and polished SOPs.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up I was a very imaginative child. I loved Anne of Green Gables and often related to Anne Shirley! I have always enjoyed organizing and thinking outside of the box, which often lent me the label as “creative”. Although, I am very bad at any kind of art!
