Hi Lizzy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Growing up in Michigan, the thought of being a makeup artist and living out West seemed like an untouchable dream. In 2008, I chose to chase that dream, so I received my aesthetic license. I loved waxing from the beginning, and it came so naturally to me. I remember being in cosmetology school and waxing for the first time when the instructor said, “Woah, we have a waxer!” I went on to graduate, and countless hours of additional training came. It was then that I decided to move to Arizona. I worked as a wax specialist at a well-known waxing franchise in Scottsdale. After over five and a half years with the company, I had an intuitive pull to start my own business. From paperwork to promoting, website to waxing, I did everything myself to establish the business. After over six and a half years in business, I’m grateful that Lizzy Lou’s Waxing is thriving. I love the services I can provide and the lasting friendships that come with it.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, has it been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like any road, it has only sometimes been completely smooth. However, while facing challenges, I always believe, “I know what I have to do, so I just do it.” I firmly believe that just because it is challenging does not mean you cannot achieve it. One of my harder struggles was figuring out how to build a business without guidance or assistance.

Lizzy Lou’s Waxing specializes in men’s and women’s eyebrow waxing, bikini waxing, and full-body waxing. I have been a licensed aesthetician for over 15 years. I am known to be a true perfectionist in my craft. I strive to make my clients feel beautiful and valued while educating them to the utmost.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I am a big advocate for not giving into fear. It has held me back one too many times. Great things come from outside our comfort zone. Believing in myself and my abilities and knowing wholeheartedly my power has been the biggest overcome of all.
