Exploring Life & Business with Lisa Jane Vargas of Wellness Legacy Consulting & Coaching

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Jane Vargas.

Hi Lisa Jane , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am honored to share some of my story. I’m from the east coast originally and after earning my degree in Business Administration and Marketing, I ventured into the arenas of retail, health and fitness, hospitality and financial services. Each of these sectors of experience touched a part of who I am and my interests. I really loved trying out different types of businesses to explore what sparks my passion.
After some life changes, I had the opportunity to move to Arizona where I had close family and knew I wanted to work in the behavioral health treatment field. Through some serendipitous events, I was granted the chance to utilize my skills and experience from very different industries to this new world of marketing and business development for world renowned treatment facilities here in AZ that helped alcoholics and addicts start their healing journey.
I committed myself wholly to my role, brand and helping individuals and families get help for a better life via my resources and contacts from what I realize now is a strength of mine, networking and connecting people. It’s been such a rewarding career. My roles in this field have been business development, marketing, branding, various levels of leadership, and climbed the ladder to the C Suite. I learned so much about business and myself along the way. I met so many amazing people and had the pleasure of being a part of some teams that felt like family and some that were very dysfunctional. A few years ago I decided to take a different approach in my career and use my experiences in a consulting and coaching capacity. After leaving the corporate environment, I really wanted to mentor, teach and help other ambitious professionals in their roles and businesses.
I joined a firm who focused on scaling small to mid-size businesses with a team of highly skilled and intelligent professionals. I learned and taught the Scaling Up model, worked with executives and middle leaders to improve their culture, business acumen and interpersonal communications. I earned a certification as a Professional Coach and Advanced Insights Behavioral Analyst utilizing a well-known tool called DISC along with 2 other indexes that help professionals gain insight and self-awareness like no other tool I’ve tried. I loved the team I worked with yet was called to move toward my roots of my own business working with ambitious, professional women offering workshops, training, retreats, consulting and coaching blending my lifetime of business and wellness.
Oh yeh, for my whole life I loved fitness and health through exercise, sports, psychology, spirituality, recovery, aerobics, personal training and yoga. Since 2013 I’ve been a certified yoga teacher and during Covid earned an additional 300-hour certification in therapeutic healing yoga and trained in trauma-informed yoga. My strengths and passion in the areas of health/fitness and business, and a deep understanding of integrative wellness, is what drives my desire to help other women who need strategy, support and accountability to make positive change. I believe we are made for more and I recently formed a forum called Legacy Season for women 50+ who want to re-envision their lives. We are women who understand the topics we face in this season of life and offer workshops, retreats, trainings and coaching, virtually and in-person.
I did say I am ambitious, right? I went through the 6-week Positive Intelligence program for coaches and learned about the Saboteurs and Sage model of mental fitness. I love using the tools I’ve acquired and been taught and simply seeing the positive change in my clients is what lights me up.
I love being with family, taking scenic beautiful and challenging hikes with friends, decorating my house and designing flower arrangements and photography. Tennis is a huge part of my life as my sport and circle active friends. Exercising just about every day whether it’s a walk or lifting weights is important to me in tandem with eating healthy.
I have a strong spirit connection and lean on a higher power every day. Life is good and I’ve been blessed for all of the ups and downs. A friend long ago once said to me, there is always a gift or a lesson in everything. I seek those and share the hope and love with others.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is there such thing as a smooth road? My life and career have been full of obstacles and challenges and for these, I’ve become a stronger, wiser, resilient woman. I’m always a student and learning along the way. In particular a long term relationship and high level position in a company I was very dedicated to, made significant impacts on me to look more deeply at who I am and how I can be a better human being. In the darker times of those experiences, there was light and faith that helped me through and I took those challenges to improve me and for that I am grateful.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wellness Legacy Consulting & Coaching?
My newest venture is that I am co-founder of Map Your Path Coaching, mapyourpathcoaching.com, which launched in 2025 with my 2 colleagues. In 2013 I founded Wellness Legacy, which was created with intention and purpose. I chose this name because it reflects the intersection of business, personal growth, and whole-person wellness. My work is dedicated to supporting women—leaders, entrepreneurs, and solopreneurs—who are seeking clarity, momentum, and meaningful transformation. Whether through coaching, consulting, or tailored wellness strategies, my goal is to help women move forward with confidence so they can create the kind of legacy that matters to them—professionally, personally, or both.

I am often recognized for my professionalism, solution-oriented mindset, calm presence, and ability to genuinely connect people. What sets me apart is my commitment to integrity: I do what I say I will do, I follow through, and I show up fully for my clients. My disciplined approach, attention to detail, and focus on what truly matters allow me to be an objective and trusted partner in their journey. I bring a deep understanding and lived experience across many levels and sectors of business, paired with a lifelong study of human psychology, personal growth, and whole-health practices through exercise, sports, and the full spectrum of yoga.

My brand is an extension of who I am. As Wellness Legacy grows, maintaining the character and values behind the brand is essential. I intentionally choose to work with clients who share these values and who are committed to their own growth. Providing personalized care, meaningful guidance, and consistent communication is central to helping clients achieve the outcomes they envision.

Looking ahead to 2026, Wellness Legacy is expanding into new offerings, including leadership development programs, small-group and 1:1 coaching, Intersection Retreats (where business and wellness meet), and The Legacy Season Program for women 50+ who are ready to reimagine the next chapter of their lives. Our clients are women with the willingness and commitment to create positive, lasting change—in themselves and in the work they bring into the world.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up, I was athletic, curious, and naturally drawn to helping others. I loved being active—whether it was cheerleading, softball, or any game that let me move and connect with people. I had a competitive streak, but an equally strong love for being part of a team.

My interest in health and wellness started early. At five years old, I would watch Jack LaLanne on TV with my dad and follow along with the exercises. That early exposure sparked a lifelong passion for fitness and well-being.

I also discovered a love for teaching and leading. As the oldest of three, leadership came naturally—I was the one who organized activities, got things done, and brought people together.

Creativity was another big part of my childhood. I loved baking, crafting, building things, and even thinking up little “business ideas” to try with friends. Completing a project from start to finish gave me a deep sense of satisfaction and pride.

Nature has always been grounding and energizing for me. Being outdoors, moving my body, and soaking in the calm and wisdom of the natural world still fills my soul.

Overall, I’ve always been a blend of “chill and steady” with a strong drive to grow, create, and accomplish meaningful things—qualities that continue to shape who I am today.
