Exploring Life & Business with Danny Ivan of Danny Ivan Media LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Ivan.

Hi Danny, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve actually been a photography enthusiast for about 20 years now. I’ll be the first to tell you that I tried to turn it into a business in the past and failed, but I think those early setbacks are what made this current chapter work. I originally started Danny Ivan Media as a side-gig while I was working at the CDC. When the mass layoffs happened during this Trump administration, I found myself in a really tough spot. I was applying to hundreds of jobs a month and just hitting walls, so I decided to pivot and pour everything I had into the business.

I started by focusing on real estate photography, really grinding into cold calls as well as SEO and social media presence so people could actually find me. It worked—but then something interesting happened. Because I was becoming so discoverable, I started getting requests that went way beyond residential real estate. I had people coming to me for commercial projects, major events, specialized drone work, and corporate branding.

That growth is actually what led me to where I am today. I realized that to do it right, I needed to specialize. So, I turned Danny Ivan Media LLC into a holding company and started building out dedicated brands for each service. I just launched Media Haste this past April to handle the real estate side of things, and I’m currently building out the sister sites for my other services. It’s been a wild ride going from a federal layoff to running a full-time, revenue-generating media house, but it’s been incredibly rewarding to see that 20-year passion finally scale into a career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s funny you ask that, because honestly, I have to chuckle a bit when people ask if it’s been smooth. It has been anything but. When I started, the biggest obstacle was just pure, raw pressure. After the layoff at the CDC, I wasn’t just “chasing a dream”—I had the weight of providing for my family on my shoulders. That kind of pressure can either paralyze you or fuel you, and I had to make sure it was the latter.

The learning curve was, and still is, massive. I’m a photographer by trade, but suddenly I had to become a web designer, an SEO expert, and a social media strategist overnight. Then there’s the “people” side of it—learning how to handle sales, making cold calls, and getting comfortable with rejection. I’ve had to eat the costs of failed business approaches more times than I’d like to admit, but I look at those as the tuition I paid to learn how to do things the right way.

Even now, the struggle is really about balance. There’s always a website to polish, a new AI tool to master, or a budget to track down to the last dollar. It’s easy to find yourself working all day, through the night, and every weekend because there’s always something that can be improved. But the real challenge is knowing when to shut the laptop and be present with my family. I’ve had to learn the hard way that starting over from scratch on a strategy is sometimes necessary, and that “done” is often better than “perfect” if it means I get to have dinner with my wife and soon to be child. It’s been a constant process of refining not just the business, but how I manage my own life.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
What I really want people to understand about my business is that we aren’t just ‘taking pictures’—we’re building a visual engine for our clients. Today, Danny Ivan Media LLC acts as an umbrella for Media Haste and future specialized brands. My goal was to move away from the ‘jack-of-all-trades’ approach and instead create dedicated experts for different industries.

The biggest part of that right now is Media Haste, which we launched last April. It’s focused strictly on real estate media. We’re known for being incredibly fast and high-quality, providing everything from standard architectural photography to cinematic video tours, 3D Zillow walk-throughs, and floor plans. But beyond the residential stuff, we’ve become the go-to for commercial real estate, major events, and high-end drone work through our other specialized branches.

I think what really sets me apart from similar businesses is my absolute obsession with customer satisfaction. I don’t just deliver a gallery of images; I help my clients understand how those visuals are going to perform on social media, meetings, events, Google, and so on. I’m most proud of the fact that I’ve built a brand that people trust for the ‘big’ moments—whether it’s a multi-million dollar listing or a once-in-a-lifetime corporate event.

Brand-wise, I’m incredibly proud of the evolution from a one-man side-gig into a structured holding company. It represents all the ‘failed’ attempts and lessons I’ve had over the last 20 years finally coming together into something scalable. I want readers to know that when they work with us, they aren’t just getting a photographer—they’re getting a partner who is just as invested in their project’s success as they are.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
