Daily Inspiration: Meet Megan Murphy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Murphy.

Megan , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
In 2020, I became a first-time mom. I wanted so badly to breastfeed my son, but my body wasn’t listening to me. I was doing everything I thought I was supposed to do to be healthy. I was drinking water…a lot of water. Honestly, I was drinking so much water that when my husband, Vincent , suggested I might be dehydrated, I suggested he might be…well, (I can’t believe I’m putting this in print, but) my husband was right.

This moment changed everything.

My body needed minerals–specifically sodium, potassium, and magnesium. Three minerals critical for cellular hydration. Vincent had learned about these minerals years before we met while navigating his own health crisis. He sourced them for me in their purest liquid state to add to my water, and before I knew it, I was putting milk in the freezer. I successfully breastfed our son for the first year of his life. Those three simple, pure liquid minerals became BodyFlow Hydration.

We quickly realized how saturated the market was with hydration products filled with sugars, fake sugars, dyes, and additives–things I didn’t want in my body, especially while breastfeeding our son. We saw a gap in quality and trust in the hydration market–one we felt called to fill.

After that first year of breastfeeding success, Vincent and I made the decision to turn BodyFlow into a business–with the mission to serve postpartum mothers navigating their healing journeys. We began manufacturing and distributing across the United States, building a growing network of mothers and lactation consultants seeking a more honest, no-frills approach to hydration.

And then something unexpected happened.

We realized the need for our clean, pure minerals reached far beyond postpartum. We began hearing from oncology patients who shared how our clean liquid minerals helped them maintain electrolyte balance during cancer treatment. People navigating autoimmune conditions and gastrointestinal challenges reached out, sharing how much they love our ‘taste test’ as part of their health journey–add BodyFlow to 20 ounces of water, and if it tastes salty, you’re experiencing dehydration–a simple but powerful daily check-in. And people love that BodyFlow can be added to any beverage.

What started as our deeply personal, simple solution has become something much bigger–a holistic hydration movement.

On tough days–when the challenges of building a business with your husband threaten to overshadow our mission to serve individuals navigating health challenges through clean, effective hydration–I think back to myself in 2020; tired, searching, doing everything ‘right,’ and knowing something wasn’t working. BodyFlow is for her. It’s for the mom trying to show up for her baby, the person navigating a diagnosis, the athlete pushing through exhaustion. It’s a reminder that sometimes the answer isn’t doing more–it’s slowing down and tuning in. The most meaningful part of this journey is knowing that what started as my solution in a season of uncertainty is now helping others find their way back to feeling like themselves again.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road–but it has been a meaningful one.

One of our earliest challenges was something that seems simple on the surface: packaging. I knew from the beginning that BodyFlow needed to fit into real life–something a busy mom could grab on the go by throwing in her purse, pocket, or car to have on her at all times. But getting a liquid into a single-serving stick pack that was both functional and high quality was far from simple. We went through multiple prototypes before landing on what we have today, and each iteration taught us something new about what it takes to truly serve the customer.

Another major challenge was finding the right partners. It was incredibly important to us to work with a formulator and manufacturer who shared our commitment to quality–someone who understood that we weren’t just creating a product, we were supporting people navigating real health challenges. We walked away from opportunities that, on paper, looked promising, but ultimately didn’t align with our values. We continuously choose integrity over convenience which forced us to navigate many challenging conversations and self doubt–but it was always the right choice.

Our commitment to quality and staying true to our clean minerals-only formula has shaped how we’ve grown. Year after year, BodyFlow has expanded steadily, exclusively through word of mouth. We’ve been fortunate to build a strong, organic referral network of customers who believe in BodyFlow and share it with others. To this day, we haven’t relied on paid advertising–we’ve focused on trust, results, and relationships, and that continues to carry us forward.

As we continue to grow, new challenges will emerge. Right now, we’re stepping in to one of the biggest yet–pursuing a scientific research study with an accredited university to validate the hydration benefits of BodyFlow, particularly for individuals navigating oncology and gastrointestinal health challenges. It’s a complex and resource-intensive process, but it’s one we feel deeply called to pursue. The outcome will open doors for HSA coverage and integration into healthcare providers treatment plans, making BodyFlow more accessible to the people who need it most.

There will always be challenges in business. But what we’ve learned is that when you stay grounded in your values–when you choose people over profits and lead with integrity–those challenges don’t just test you, they shape you. And more often than not, they open the door to something even greater than what you originally set out to build.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I grew up in Tigard, Oregon in a musical theater family–my parents founded The Broadway Rose–and through the highs and lows of running a family business, I learned early on what it means to preserver, and to be ready when opportunity presents itself. (In our house, that meant knowing your lines, trusting your timing, and being ready to step in when the moment called for it–even if it wasn’t your scene.)

I was raised in a home of hardworking dreamers who consistently found ways to accomplish what felt impossible. That foundation shaped everything for me. My passion for people led me into social work, where I had a the privilege of supporting young people as they worked toward stability and discovered the healing power of creativity and self-expression.

That same pull toward connection and community led me to travel–spending time in Costa Rica and later backpacking through Europe–experiences that expanded my perspective and depended my understanding of people from all walks of life. Ultimately, that journey brought me to New Orleans, where I met and fell in love with my husband, Vincent. We welcomed our son during the pandemic, and I began my corporate career with Southwest Airlines.

My path has been anything but linear, but every chapter has shaped how I show up today. Those experiences prepared me for the challenges of motherhood and ultimately for co-founding BodyFlow Hydration with my husband. What I do now is rooted in everything that came before–connection, resilience, and deep desire to help people.

I’ve become a specialist in continuous learning, adapting, and building something simple but impactful–clean, effective hydration. I’m known for leading with integrity, prioritizing people over profits, and creating something grounded in real experience rather than trends.

What I’m most proud of is the community that has grown around BodyFlow. What started as a personal solution has become something that’s supporting people in meaningful ways–from postpartum mothers to other communities navigating serious health challenges.

What sets me apart is that I didn’t start this journey from a traditional business mindset–I started from lived experience. I’ve been the person searching for answers, trying to do everything “right”, feeling like something was missing. That perspective keeps me grounded and shapes every decision I make. I’m not just building a business–I’m building something I needed, and now I have the privilege of sharing it with others.

What matters most to you? Why?
Family, health, and gratitude.

I believe that when we prioritize our health–both individually and as a family– and lead with gratitude, even the hardest challenges become faceable. My family is the foundation of everything I do. Their unwavering support gives me the confidence to take risks, grow, and lead in a way that I hope my son can learn from and be proud of.

I’ve been blessed in so many ways, and I don’t take that lightly. By taking care of those blessings and staying grounded in gratitude, I’m able to show up fully–not just for my family, but for others as well. It allows me to lead with a full heart and continue paying forward the support and care that’s been given to me.
