Daily Inspiration: Meet Cedric Adams

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cedric Adams.

Hi Cedric, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
From me being born a little bit after the beginnings of the hip hop we know and love today, I have been blessed to see all the different forms hip hop has changed into. I’m from Chicago originally, so rap, jazz,r&b and soul have greatly influenced my approach to how I create my lyrics. From 8 to 44 years old, my life experiences like getting married and having children or even seeing people struggle where I’m from (Chicago and Pine Bluff) just wanting better for black people is the goal of my(our) music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Just getting people to want to hear something different in music, can be a struggle. Working a full time job and taking care of a brand new family while helping out in your community, can sometimes put your goals for your music on hold.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m an hip hop artist with a focus on lyricism and community betterment. I’m also a videographer and a graphite/ pastel artist.

I’m most proud of being able to persevere, and continue to create music. I know a lot of artist my age, who threw in the towel because they weren’t further along in this music like they would’ve liked. So me having patience is what I’m definitely proud of.

What sets is apart from other hip hop artist is that we’re unapologetically black and proud of it. We want to enhance, educate and elevate all listeners who tune into MCE!

How do you think about happiness?
Happiness to me is being creative. I would do everything I love, the music the art everything, even if it didn’t bring me money. Creating music and art that inspires someone is priceless!
