Community Highlights: Meet Adam Schweibinz of Neighborhood Tech Guy, LLC.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adam Schweibinz.

Hi Adam, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
It all started when my mom and dad bought our first computer in the early 90’s. An Intel 386 running Windows 3.1 and a boy fascinated by every aspect of how it all worked together. It didn’t take long before I had the case cracked open and was exploring how to upgrade the processor or add a CD-ROM so that I could play the latest games. That love of technology has been lifelong..

Fast-forward 30 years and you can still see that same enthusiasm for tinkering with tech, albeit with a bit more experience. It doesn’t stop at computers either. If it’s got circuit boards, screens, or software, I’m into it. As much I love technology, I equally enjoy helping people connect with it. I have discovered that this skillset I have can help bring joy into peoples lives when they are able to experience new ways of seeing and doing things with the help of tech.

For many years I have developed my knowledge and honed my skills, with a degree in Management Information Systems and experience working for large computer and software companies, like Apple. During this time I not only learned the technical skills needed to start my business, but also the values of good customer service, professionalism, and operational excellence. I have accumulated thousands of hours of computer and mobile device support and repair experience for both consumers and small business. I have also spent many years in management, most recently as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (a fancy title for a process improvement project manager). I’m grateful to the companies that I have served in the past because of what they have taught me.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting my own business in this field was shockingly easy for me. A little research into establishing an LLC and completing the steps to become licensed with the Arizona ROC were fairly straightforward and required only a moderate up-front investment. My prior education and experiences allowed for me to hit the ground running with very few obstacles.

After the administrative side of the business was ready to go, I had to think about how to get my company name in front of people. This also proved to be easier than expected. There is a large demand for experts in my field for residential and small business customers. A website, Google profile, a few posts on Nextdoor, Facebook, and demand has never let up. I’ve not needed to spend any money on additional ads.

However, dealing with technology in general is a constant challenge. I’m sure I don’t need to tell you that. Companies are constantly releasing updates, fixing bugs and introducing new ones. Just when you get used to the look and feel of your computer, phone, TV, and various apps they get an update and you have to learn how to use them all over again. In my line of work, this process is unending and requires a constant effort in remaining educated and on top of all of these constant curveballs. Patience is an absolute requirement in this line of work.

We’ve been impressed with Neighborhood Tech Guy, LLC., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Neighborhood Tech Guy is more than just a cheeky name for an IT support company. It is the embodiment of what I want my brand to be. I want my customers to feel like I am a trusted member of their local community. A helpful neighbor that is happy to help with tech related needs both large and small. I have purposefully chosen to keep my business solely owned and operated because personally helping the members of my community and developing relationships with them is what brings me the most joy in the work that I do.

What I believe sets me apart from others in my industry is not only this one-to-one relationship approach, but also my ability to offer a very broad set of services:

-Computer support
-Networking
-Security and Cameras
-TV and Home Theater
-Whole Home Audio
-Automation
-Landscape Lighting
-Interior Accent Lighting

If you look at this list you might expect to have to find multiple companies to fulfill these needs as a home or business owner. However, for my clients I am the one-stop-shop for all of these services. That saves them from time spent trying to find good help in these areas when the the need arises because they can rely on me for it all. Another significant benefit to my clients is my ability to look at all of their tech holistically and find ways to simplify and integrate these various services together for ease of use and management.

How do you think about luck?
I’m not sure I believe in luck. Don’t get me wrong, I feel incredibly fortunate to have my own business, to have been born in America and have the opportunities that I have had. You can certainly consider those things as luck in and of themselves, but I’ve had plenty of challenges in my life to feel like the scales are balanced in terms of luck. In my mind it is all randomness; sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. I try to focus on the things that I can control to make my own success and certainly don’t rely on any kind of “luck” to come to the rescue. It’s always nice to find myself in the right place at the right time, and again, I am thankful when it happens but I don’t ever count on it. That keeps me focused on trying to achieve my own success on by my own merit.
