Check Out Julia Stangler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julia Stangler.

Julia, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I think my story really starts to unfold from a young age. I remember being about 8 years old and every time the holidays would come around I would be the one to set out all the decorations, I would constantly rearrange furniture around the house, and it’s funny because my mom would actually ask me to.

As I got older, transitioning into high school, I knew I had a very creative side and was constantly tapping into that side, but never fully pursued it. Freshman year of high school, I had joined a club called DECA. It is a business club and through DECA, I was able to learn how to apply what I was learning in the classroom at a young age, but also I grew confident in the fact that I would own my own business one day.

Going into college, I had decided to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy but quickly learned that it wasn’t for me, and it wasn’t a career that was filling me up and giving me joy. After some reflection on what truly makes me happy, I kept thinking about the creative side that I had. I never gave myself the chance to reach the full potential of my creative mind. I had decided to take a leap of faith, trusts the gifts that God had given me, and pursue a creative field.

I have been able to pursue my creative side in many ways now. The following semester I had changed my major and school, I transferred to Arizona State University and started pursuing a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Interior Design and Business and a certificate in Marketing. Interior Design is a true passion of mine, but I let everything around me interfere with my ability to be confident in my own talents.

Making the choice to pursue interior design was such a freeing feeling, knowing that I was pursuing a degree and a career with disregard to what other people thought or how much money I would make- I made the decision truly for myself. I also have the ability to be more creative with my career by choosing to pursue both design and business. I have a strong passion for business as well and have big goals and visions for what my business will look like one day. Having the opportunity to be an entrepreneur and incorporating design into it is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life thus far.

Another creative side I have recently pursued is content creating and influencing through social media. It was honestly another area I struggled to pursue because I didn’t know if other people would take me seriously through it or what other people would think. The shift came for me through being confident in what I want to do and who I am, and that confidence comes from knowing and being confident in who I am through God.

Learning and truly understanding that God has blessed everyone with different talents, and knowing I was blessed with a creative side has given me all the confidence to be 100% who I am. Social media content creating and influencing is more than just posting a picture for me. There is a lot of thought and creative control that goes into not only taking the photos but creating a feed, videos, reels, and much more. The social media influencing world can also be intimidating to jump into because there are already so many people doing it, but I heard once, “there is always another spot in the influencing world.

Think about all the times you stumbled upon an influencer’s page with millions of followers that you never even heard of before. The opportunity is endless.” This has been something that has stuck with me, because no matter what field someone pursues, there is always room for one more, there isn’t a cap on how many people can pursue a career. As I have pursued a career in influencing and social media, while it is scary and a slow start, I have a lot of joy being able to create content, and truly do have a deep gut feeling that big things will happen and I will be successful.

I am currently in the process of creating my lifestyle into a brand. I am using my social media and passion for content creation and influencing as the foundation of my business to reflect my lifestyle, and to have a successful business down the road. The opportunities are endless and I am excited to see where the Lord takes me in life!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I touched upon a little in my story, confidence and comparison are struggles I have faced. When trying to start your own business, comparison really becomes a thief of joy and confidence. The thoughts of, “There’s no room for me in this field or career’, ‘someone’s already doing this” or even ‘someone is doing it better than me’ are true struggles.

It is so intimidating stepping into the unknown, it’s honestly really uncomfortable. Confidence can be such a struggle, especially in today’s society because wondering the opinions of others can weigh really heavy. You have to know where your confidence comes from, and know at the end of the day, it’s not anyone else’s life but yours, and you have to make choices for yourself.

I know my confidence comes from the Lord and I am confident in who I am in Him first and have from a young age, and I have to keep myself grounded in that because I would be lying if I said I never struggled with confidence.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am currently a student, and I am currently an intern at an interior design firm in Old Town, Scottsdale.

I am also a content creator and pursuing content creation and influence. I am known for lifestyle, fitness, and fashion content. I am most proud of what I have accomplished from a young age and beyond proud of how hard I work because success in my situation doesn’t come easy.

I think what sets me apart from others, is simply the fact that no one else is me, I have so many attributes that make me who I am, and I am confident in them and love all those things about myself.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I am a proud Arizona native and have learned to appreciate so many things about our city. I love that our city is growing, I love that we have so many small businesses in the city, I love the diversity through each town in Arizona.

I love our weather, and I’m obsessed with the western vibe and desert that we live in. Being raised in the West Valley, I would say the thing I liked least was that everything is a chain, there were no small businesses, cute coffee shops, restaurants, boutiques, etc. Growing up out there.

I think that also comes from my entrepreneurial heart and want to support small businesses.
