Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Summers.

Hi Brittany, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I went to cosmetology school but was not a big fan of going into a salon environment, seeing as my passion was styling and makeup application. An opportunity arose to work on a wedding, and everything became clear for me.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I wish it had been an easy road, but I had to find my place! Since I was a kid, I wanted to own my own business, so I watched what I liked and didn’t like from management styles. I had worked with a few people with who I wasn’t exactly a fan of certain things. I appreciated what they learned, but I just wanted a different environment! I took a hiatus after the first one doubting everything I was doing. I shouldn’t have, though; when I went out on my own, it seemed to go better than when I worked for someone.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I do hair and makeup professionally, from weeding to special occasions to photoshoots! Boudoir and Boho are my specialities for sure! Editorial makeup, I think, is what I’m most proud of, seeing the range I have. I make sure to be available as quickly as possible for my clients, try to be as transparent as possible, and practice the styles requested, so there’s no worry the day of.

We’re always looking for lessons that we can learn in any situation. Including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Ask if there’s anything you need to bring or be cautious about before the day of the event. Sanitation is of the utmost importance, even more so now, to ensure and if you’re not, do it again.
