Andrea Worley shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Good morning Andrea , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Waking up by 6 am and getting my kiddos up for school. They are old enough now they get themselves ready. I myself, get ready to head into the office. We all eventually congregate in the kitchen to start our day together. There’s bustling of coffee making, getting breakfast and lunches together before we all start our day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Andrea Worley. I have been in the online space for 17 years now. I’ve seen it change from early blogging days, to introducing social media and now exploding into many areas where people have the ability to market themselves and their products reaching a wider audience. I’ve seen algorithms change and change, and the next best platform change and the. Change back again.
These days I split my time between my own personal brand that includes writing for a few publications, including my own blog. Being a podcast host and working in the fundraising space for nonprofits.
My family and I moved from Arizona to the Midwest in early 2020 to be closer to family. In our downtime we love travel, playing pickle ball together, enjoying discovering local spots to us.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who taught you the most about work?
My Grandparents were pivotal influences in my life. All my life they spoke into me, taught me about life and hard work. More importantly they encouraged me and pointed me to Christ in every way. I am thankful for their influence and legacy in my life even now after they are gone. Their love and legacy lives on.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
That failure isn’t to be feared or scared of, but it’s the thing that helps your grow and change.
Growing up the fear of failure was strong. Everything I did or didn’t do was largely centered around not failing. Not wanting to disappoint others or myself was strong. It took me till college to learn a big lesson in failing when I literally failed a class!
It was a big blow to my heart and ego, but what it did allow me to do was to explore this emotion and this ideal of perfection I’d built and held onto.
It allowed me to grow in many ways and move forward knowing failure isn’t bad, it sometimes is the very thing we need to let go of perfection that isn’t attainable anyway.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Faith and family.
That’s it.
Family over career always. I’ve learned this the hard way and I’ll never return to the former.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I lived a life of deep faith and point people to Christ.
That I put my faith and family first and encouraged them to do the same.
