Feana Hodges shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Feana , it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
This is probably the first time in life that I have been all over the place. I am very much wandering and open to new adventures.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hello my name is Feana. I go by Fea for short. I was born in Michigan and I moved to Az 8 years ago. I can’t believe I’ve been here this long and I can’t promise I will be in Az forever. I am a passionate commercial model. I enjoy model coaching, directing, and styling. I also have my own business selling sunglasses. I enjoy traveling outside of the U.S and exploring new places.
Lately I have transitioned into content creating because I enjoy it. I enjoy going to local restaurants and the food tasting is a bonus.
I also enjoy content creating for fashion and everyday products.
I have personally slowed down lately because I’ve experienced a lot of change at once. However I had the opportunity to work with wana brands this past spring and it reminded me modeling is something I can’t let go.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
The part of me that has served its purpose is me playing small. As confident as I am I also battle self doubt tremendously. I have a habit of defeating myself before the world does. I think it’s time to release that. There were so many times I felt I was getting too old or
Too curvy for things that I am passionate for. And each time this has happened I received a message confirming a brand or a client is
Looking for someone that looks like me. It’s really easy to get in your own way and I truly want to throw that habit in the trash.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me many things that success never could. Sometimes the closest people to you are your enemies. And you learn who is really for you when you are at your lowest. You learn that all of the people who were screaming you were their “ Best friend “ were never your friend to begin with. Suffering teaches you to be alone and it teaches you resilience. When things are going great everyone wants to be around you. But when things change for the worse people fade and they stop cheering you on. You eventually learn that life goes on and you can simply be your own cheerleader.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is half of me. For the most part I’m entertaining, loud, outgoing and adventurous. But when people meet the other side of me they question if I’m ok. The other side of me is starting to become The main version of me . I am secretly an introvert. There are many times I prefer to be alone or in silent settings. I love to do things that are calm and intimate.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
If I knew I had 10 years left I would probably stop working and find a way to just travel the world. Working is mentally and physically draining. It takes away so much of your time and you are left with limited time to enjoy life.
