Dr. Kristina Donnay DNP, FNP-C shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kristina, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Most days start before the sun’s up. I’m a wife, a mom to two amazing kids, a clinic owner, and a national speaker for InMode, so every hour counts.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Dr. Kristina Donnay, DNP, FNP-C. I am a nurse practitioner, entrepreneur, speaker, and founder of Maricopa Wellness Center in Arizona. I specialize in women’s wellness, bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, medical weight loss, aesthetic lasers and advanced aesthetic treatments.
At my core, I’m passionate about helping people feel good in their own bodies from the inside out. That’s why I created a space where science meets self care, and patients feel seen, heard, and empowered every step of the way.
I’m also proud to serve as an international speaker and trainer for InMode, where I educate providers across the world on cutting edge technologies that are transforming lives.
What makes Maricopa Wellness Center unique is our result driven care rooted in compassion. We believe in personalized, thoughtful wellness that fits each patient’s goals and lifestyle.
Right now, we’re expanding access to education, launching community events, and growing our impact through integrative, evidence based treatments.
This is more than a business, this is my calling. And I’m just getting started!
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My husband saw the strength in me long before I ever did. While I was battling endometriosis and other health challenges, feeling disconnected from my body, he never wavered in his belief that I was powerful, capable, and meant for more. Sometimes it takes someone else believing in you before you can believe in yourself and for that, I’ll always be grateful. He’s been my constant support through every chapter. During my education, my career, and now as I grow as a speaker and leader in the aesthetic space. I wouldn’t be here without him. We are a team.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me what success never could, how to grow. Failure is uncomfortable, but it’s where the real transformation happens. Success shows us what’s working. Failure shows us where we need to improve. I don’t view failure as a bad thing, but as an invitation to get better. Some lessons are harder than others, but they’re all necessary. It’s something we teach our children too. If you want to grow, you have to get comfortable being uncomfortable. That’s where the magic happens. Learn from your mistakes. Learn from your successes. Never stay stagnant and embrace the journey.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
One idea I deeply believe in, even if I can’t prove it, is that you get what you give. If you focus on negativity, life will mirror it back. But if you lead with joy, gratitude, and kindness, that energy returns to you in ways you may never expect.
When my son and I almost lost our lives during his delivery, everything changed. We’re both healthy now, but that experience taught me a truth I carry daily, tomorrow is not promised. So I choose excitement. I choose joy. I choose kindness, not because I’m perfect, but because I’m grateful for the chance to try again.
I can’t explain energy, but I feel it. And I trust that when I give out good energy, it finds its way back. Every day is a new chance to create something better and I will never stop choosing joy.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What false labels are you still carrying?
False label I’m carrying: That being a good mom means doing it all.
I’m a mom, a wife, and a business owner and I’m allowed to be all of those things fully. Still, like many working moms, I carry guilt. Even though our family is fortunate to have a flexible dynamic, with my husband able to handle school pickups, activities, and sick days, a part of me still feels like I should be the one doing it.
But that’s a false label. The truth is, I’m showing my children a different model of what’s possible, that moms can lead, build, and pursue their purpose, and that partnership and shared roles are powerful. I know this in my heart, but the guilt still creeps in. It’s something I work through daily.
I’m learning that breaking the mold doesn’t make me less of a mother, it makes me a different kind of example and that is something I’m proud of.
