An Inspired Chat with Debbie Hart of Peoria

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Debbie Hart. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Debbie , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
I don’t think that mystery shopping is seen as a real business. First: Business owners don’t understand that the shop reports can be a great training tool for their teams. Second: Shoppers don’t understand the importance of giving correct answers and detailed comments. If business owners reviewed reports regularly with their teams, they would get better results, like improved customer experiences and increased revenue

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am Debbie Hart, the owner of The Hart Experience, a mystery shopping business. My background is in the hospitality industry. I enjoy helping business owners improve customer experience and increase revenue. Mystery shopping is a great way for business owners to get a customer’s perspective of their service and products. Also, mystery shopping helps/educates teams on how to improve customer experience and increase revenue. I am always working on finding more clients and growing my business out of the state of Arizona.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was in the hospitality industry most of my life. When I left my last position as an events coordinator, I decided I wanted to do something a little different. I wanted to work more directly with business owners in the hospitality industry, so I started my own customer experience business.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, there have been times when I wanted to give up. This was not because of my clients or lack of them, but because I couldn’t find quality shoppers. I wanted to find shoppers who understood that mystery shopping was a serious business and that shop report answers had to be accurate.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes, I think so. I am honest and respectful of others and their businesses. I work hard and understand that keeping in touch with my clients is most important and the best way to grow my business.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Stressing over being a perfectionist.
