2SIQ of Phoenix on Life, Lessons & Legacy

2SIQ shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning 2SIQ, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day would consist of going to work, and after my 8 hour shift, I go straight home. I will then get dinner prepared and lunch prepared for the next day. After that, I will dedicate 2 hours towards working on music and/or other related duties like website building, creating ads, project planning, scheduling photoshoots, scheduling social media posts, street performing every Friday, and scheduling livestreams every Thursday and Saturday

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am 2SIQ, founder of SupaSiq Records. SupaSiq Records represents quality music; offering services like mixing and mastering as well as live recording sessions. I’m from Mesa, Arizona, I’m 28 years old, and I started my journey into music through dancing at first and I slowly transitioned into making my own music. Once upon a time, I would street dance quite often in Phx to popular and trending music. Nowadays, I street dance to my own music to help promote myself! I’ve been street dancing for 15+ years and composing music for 10+ years!

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
One of those moments would be getting older. Getting older has made me look inward and realize how much potential and investment I have put into myself with dance and music. After my first performance- hearing feedback about how I can sing and dance has helped me realize more of my potential. It has helped me stay optimistic, and it has helped me realize that anybody on a big stage had to earn their spot somehow. Furthermore, I am confident that I deserve a big stage, because I have been street performing for a while and it’s all coming together in my live performances. I believe I’m the next generational musician that is known for their dance moves – similar to Chris Brown.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Feeling like my parents are holding me back because they always have hard opinions and want me to live life under their standards. However, they had to figure out their life in their 20s, and I need to be allowed to figure out life for myself as well. I’m trying to pursue my own struggles to achieve what I want – but, they don’t want me to struggle. They’d rather tell me to find a new job, and that when I find a new job, they’ll help buy me a house…

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
YES. The public version of me will always be me. I will always stay grounded. I am really goofy and I have ADHD. So I will talk a lot.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would quit old bad habits and replace them with things that are productive. I would stop doom scrolling on social media so I can focus on self care; like making sure I make breakfast, and get some exercise in before I start my day!
