Meet Trailblazer Amanda Davidson

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Davidson.

Amanda, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I got my esthetics license 17 years ago and have been working in the beauty industry on and off since then. I had always been drawn towards the makeup and beauty end of the business. I can express my artistic and creative side better.

When I heard about microblading in 2016, I knew instantly that it was something I had to pursue. I was amazed by all of the talented artists all over the world and it inspired me. I used to assist in the old school permanent makeup, but this was different. You can create a custom eyebrow with fine detail, for each individual.

I immediately got certified in this technique and have been loving what I do ever since!

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The beauty industry can be very competitive. If you are just starting out in this industry, specifically the permanent makeup side, you have to have confidence. There are some amazingly talented artists out there and you just have to know that you are amazingly talented as well. Practice, work hard and stay confident!

There may be some people out there that will try to make you question your ability to succeed. You got this!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about High Brow Microblading – what should we know?
I specialize in the microblading technique for eyebrows. Microblading is a form of permanent makeup that creates a natural look by drawing each individual hair. This is done with a manual pen and several tiny, compacted needles.

My clients are typically drawn towards the realistic look that I strive to create with each eyebrow. Many of them travel from various parts of the country to get that natural look.

I am a perfectionist and I think people appreciate that. I am constantly practicing and pursuing the perfect brow patterns to ensure that each set of brows I create are unique to each beautiful face I work on.

So much of the media coverage is focused on the challenges facing women today, but what about the opportunities? Do you feel there are any opportunities that women are particularly well positioned for?
I believe that every single industry is well for women to thrive and prosper. We as women need to focus on building each other up and supporting one another within our respective industries.
