Today we’d like to introduce you to Basile Taylor.
Hi Basile, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started woodworking in 2017 on a whim. I knew I liked modifying all sorts of stuff so building custom things came naturally. For a while I worked at a furniture store out of desperation and that eventually turned into an entire shop dedicated to fixing all the furniture in house and making custom orders. That venture ended in 2024 and I went solo and now have a shop in McCormick Ranch making custom furniture valley wide. I also started a project called Themendedheartsroject, and with that I make mended hearts for people going through traumatic events in their lives, for every 5 sales I like to give out, for free, a heart to someone that is going through something that will forever change them, let’s face it, we all have trauma and this is a way I can give back.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No way! Not smooth whatsoever! Life has its ups and downs and I experience it all! The transition from being employed full time to working for myself has been the scariest and most gratifying journey of my life! The hardest part for me, is talking about myself and getting my name out there, but I’m trying to get better at that. Another hard part is time management, I mean the pool is right out back and calling me, but I gotta work to make the bills.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in custom furniture design and building as well as The Mended Hearts Project which I gift hearts to people going through traumatic parts of their lives. Every piece I make is hand made and thoughtfully crafted to the clients vision. You name it, I can make it.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Im kind of a softy. I like gardening, sewing, outdoors, collecting oddities and bones, drone building/racing, paddle boarding, shooting and antiques
