Hi Rick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started as a full-time licensed real estate agent in November 1986 on the Sunset Strip in the Hollywood Hills. I was the Top Producer of one of Coldwell Banker’s Top 5 Offices worldwide and was a full-time real estate agent/broker there until 2016. I obtained my Arizona Broker’s license in 2014. I am currently with The Agency Scottsdale, specializing in luxury estates, luxury homes, and new housing, primarily in Paradise Valley, Arcadia, Biltmore, and Scottsdale of Greater Phoenix Metro. I have been in the Top 1% of sales agents of homes consistently throughout my career for both listing and sales volume. In addition, I have consistently set record prices throughout different neighborhoods and property types throughout my career.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a “long and winding road,” to quote the Beatles song! One thing that is consistent in real estate is that it is ever-changing! The person who is most Chameleon-like is the one who will consistently produce and find ways to fight through the tough times when the economy is slower, and then you can thrive when the economy picks up. Find where the flow of money is going and get there first! Early in my career, I had early success, then the market tanked, and I went deep into debt. Going broke with high credit card debt. Then I fought hard to find a way through it by listing and selling new housing projects and REO / Bank foreclosures, which created a strong cash flow until the economic and market compositions changed, and I could go back to retail sales of homes and condos with mom and pop sellers, buyers and investors.

I have been a full-time real estate professional for almost 4 decades. I often tell people in interviews for listings, “I have probably forgotten more than most agents will ever know?!” You are 38 years into a business and have closed over 2000 sales transactions, listing and representing buyers. You can break down the different facts of each part of the business into steps that become so accurate that it sets you apart from people who cannot compete with that amount of experience. I have sold $20 million plus estates, $5,000- lots at auction for a bank, 400+ acres of land to national developers/builders, and so many homes, estates, new custom hi-end homes, and new condo projects that you have to sell out over months and years in different phases strategically. I am most proud that I have always gotten to do what I love! Helping people create a new life by selling their home and finding the new home of their dreams.
In many cases, from their first home to what they always dreamed of owning and living in, to make them happy and share in their happiness is the ultimate achievement and goal! I am a full-service realtor. I will educate you about the market (whatever type of market we are in at that time). What do they need to do to sell their current home, and what do they need to prepare to transition into their next or first home? It truly is an art form, and it doesn’t have to be scary if you have exemplary leadership in a realtor and they know, teach, and prepare you for what happens next and what you need to expect.
What are your plans for the future?
I am currently working on branding for a new podcast with a younger partner, and it’s an exciting venture and platform to allow people to get to know you before they even call you to hire you. The title is being developed, but it will start something like “Rick & Nick” or maybe Castles to Condos.” It’s too early yet, but we should start producing the show in the next month to 2 months. Stay Tuned! This is where we will have fun educating people on listing and buying homes while having some laughs.
