Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Gargol.
Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was first introduced to investing many years ago when my grandmother gave each of her 11 grandchildren high school graduation present in the form of money to invest. We were instructed to invest in a stock we had researched and were personally interested in. My Grandmother and I established a joint account and purchased the stock I chose with the funds gifted. Every year around the holiday season I would converse with my cousins and inquire about the performance of their chosen stock. I was the only one who ever knew the value and growth of my investment or even slightly paid attention to “our stock”. Once college graduation came around, my grandmother removed her name from our joint account so that I could do as I wished with proceeds. This was a wonderful learning lesson for me and from then on, I knew my future was in finance.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I started in the financial industry straight of college, I was young and new to the industry. I built my business from the ground up. There were many struggles along the way, each and every experience has been an opportunity to learn. I have a strong passion to help individuals (and couples) achieve financial success, whether it’s planning for retirement, funding a ROTH IRA or saving for your kid’s college. Together, we navigate the business of life, and I strive to guide, guard and grow my clients preferred lifestyle.
Please tell us about your work.
I began my career assisting teachers with their retirement planning needs, establishing TSA’s, 403(b)’s and ROTH IRA’s. Predominately a female profession, I quickly learned the needs of women in financial planning are different than that of their male counterparts. Women are starting to control an increasing portion of personal wealth in America. Not only are they concerned about performance, but also their overall financial wellness. We are currently a full-service female firm, which wasn’t intentional but happened organically. One of our goals is to empower women (and all investors) with the confidence and knowledge they need to assume a more responsible and active role in their financial future. I strive to provide tailored, expert advice on all aspects of wealth management for individuals, families, and businesses. Our mission and passion is to become a trusted partner to our clients while guiding them through all stages of their financial lives.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I have been very blessed throughout my entire career, I have always had such a strong support system. Early in my career, I worked closely with another new advisor who was starting in the financial industry as her second career. The collaboration I had her while in the early stages of building both of our businesses was invaluable. Together we were able to share ideas, encourage each other in stressful times and talk through interesting client situations. To this day we remain friends and confidantes.
I am so proud of my team and the success that we, together, have brought to G&G. You’ve heard the phrase “the devil is in the details,” and these ladies work tirelessly to provide our clients the highest level of personalized customer service while taking care of the details of each workday competently and efficiently. I value and appreciate them so very much.
My life is complete and happy with my amazing husband, Ryan, and our three boys. Ryan has always supported my dreams and had unwavering confidence in me. As I continue to challenge myself to build and grow my business, He keeps me grounded while encouraging me to reach for the stars.
