Today we’d like to introduce you to Jewelia and Clay Eagar.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Jewelia and Clay. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Clay and I had worked in the restaurant industry for 12 years. Everything from washing dishes to running the show. In 2015, we decided we were ready to take the plug and move out on our own! I remember rolling out the truck for its first voyage in May of that year and being so excited and so pumped. And then, the summer months in Arizona hit and it was HOT and HARD. Decided that a brick & mortar concept was more our jam so we opened up our first Taqueria in August of 2015. Since then, we have narrowed down our menu on the taco truck to it’s most popular items and run it for the best events in Phoenix – i.e. Phx Flea, ASU tailgate parties, and even for Mr. Harkins birthday bash!
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a super rocky road. Finding places to park our truck, in the beginning, was exhausting. You can’t just park it anywhere like we thought. And every city in the Phoenix area has its own rules and regulations for food trucks on top of permits and fees.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Boca Taco Truck – what should we know?
Our Taco Truck is just that. A truck that sells tacos. Dang good ones too. We are known for our braised beef, pulled pork, and shrimp tacos. We are most proud of our fresh product that is healthy Mexican food at it’s best.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success to us is not how busy can we stay, but what quality of events can we attend. We quickly realized in the food truck industry that it’s not quantity but QUALITY of events you attend that make you successful.
