Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Onze.
Hi Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
A little bit about me, my name is Taylor Onze and I am 25 years young. I refuse to work a 9-5 corporate job and I truly believe that life is just too short to break your back for a company that barely even knows who you are. Been there, done that – never again. I used to cry every day at my corporate job and when I had finally got laid off from the last one, I promised I would never do that to myself again. I am a strong believer that if you do what you love, you will never have to “work” a day in your life.
I am originally from a small town in Connecticut but currently travel all over the country for my fashion and travel blog www.tayloronze.com. I graduated college from Western Connecticut State University with a degree in Communications Marketing and a minor in Holistic Health. During this time, I also became Reiki Level II certified. If you are unfamiliar, Reiki is a form of healing energy. If you know me, you know I am also obsessed with spirituality, crystals, and natural healing.
That’s when I began my crystal jewelry business, Taylor Soul Designs www.taylorsouldesigns.com in 2018. While I am absolutely in love with working on my business, I have always sparked an interest in starting my very own blog. I finally got the courage to give myself that ‘push’ to take blogging seriously. While this ignited my soul WAY back when I had started my “fashion Tumblr page”, back in like 2010? I have recently become obsessed with posting about my travels and my outfits/beauty products/influencer tips/creating content for brands/and more!
That has led me here. For the past two years, I have been working on juggling my business and my blog and building my entire “brand” by doing things that I love. I love to explore the ins and outs of social media and show people that you can use this to your advantage and create a lifestyle in ways that some couldn’t even imagine. Every day, I am one step closer to living my dream life – living life on MY TERMS.
I will never go back to the cooperative world and I am so grateful that I get to do what I do every single day.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It absolutely hasn’t always been a smooth road, that’s for sure. As I talked about earlier, I used to stress myself out every day over a job that I was so easily replaceable at. It didn’t make sense to me, and I was super unhappy. When I had finally decided to do a complete 180, it was so scary to think about. I went from having this big income to not knowing when I would get paid again!
Working for yourself, of course, comes with many challenges. One minute you think you’re on top of the world and know it all then the next you’re researching online for hours on end about something new that you didn’t know about. It’s a rollercoaster ride for sure, starting any new business from scratch is never easy, but I love a good challenge and I also love the fact that not only are you improving your brand, but you are also acquiring new skills.
There’s also a lot to figure out when it comes to the social media aspect of running a business as well. Things are CONSTANTLY changing and you have to be able to keep up with the latest trends, algorithms, etc. I have learned that it’s important not to overwhelm yourself but to set aside time to focus on certain aspects of your business/social media.
As long as you stay organized, it’ll all come together eventually. It’s also super important to never compare yourself to where other people are in their journey because everyone is at a different place than you are. Taking that big leap of change is always scary at first, but it’s always worth it in the end.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an Instagramer, blogger, business owner, and content creator. It sounds so crazy when I say it out loud. I specialize in travel blogs, fashion inspo, creating content for brands, and sharing influencer/business tips with others to help others to be able to do the same!
What makes me stand out the most is that I like to do a little bit of everything, and the content I create really shows that and pulls it all together so I have one resourceful page of things I do on the daily. It may sound a little crazy but I definitely take on a lot and love to take on the challenge of balancing everything out but sharing my mistakes with others in hopes to make it easier for those who are wanting to do the same.
The one thing that I am most proud of is that I made this decision to make this my “profession” and stuck to it. Now I am growing more and more every year and it’s so exciting to see such growth and really see how social media marketing can be used in so many different ways.
We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that I think a lot of people might not know about me is that I am a very spiritual person. I believe that manifesting and putting in the work are the two most important qualities when it comes to achieving any goal.
They both go hand in hand and I do believe that putting out positive energy into the universe and believing in yourself are key to becoming successful. I can honestly say that’s how I accomplish all of my goals. And I always remind myself what’s meant to be will always be. I create vision boards, journal, and plan all of my goals out quarterly. It keeps it fun and makes me even more motivated.
Another thing that people might not know or be surprised by is that I don’t usually ever like to ask for help. Which isn’t always the best trait to have, but I am obsessed with being the go-getter, doing everything myself, and knowing that everything I have accomplished so far has been because of me and the work that I put into it.
I will sit and research for hours before I truly ask for a helping hand, just to see if I can do it myself first, but I think it shows strength and determination.
