Today we’d like to introduce you to Brand Strategist, Tristan Thibodeau, MS.
Hi Tristan, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
The short story is that I became an entrepreneur to avoid being an employee. Whenever I felt an organization’s hierarchy was limiting me, I would immediately rebel. The long story is that I have always felt an inner calling to create a meaningful impact in the world. Knowing this about myself, I became my boss in 2016 when I opened my first business at 23. From then on, I was hooked by the creative and financial freedom that entrepreneurship provided me. I’ve since scaled businesses and pivoted specialties, ideal clients, price points, and even entire industries as I searched for a career that would fulfill my need for greater impact. Then, the pandemic happened. And like many of us, my need for fulfillment hit critical mass, and I was forced into deep self-reflection. While half-panicking about my next steps and half-lit up by the excitement of all that was possible, I had time to evaluate how my knowledge, talents, and skills could collide in a single profession. Little did I know that this period of self-reflection would develop into a key piece of the signature brand-building process that I use with my clients today. Within a few weeks, I discovered my edge. I had a talent for positioning, storytelling, and community-building and was a natural creative. All of which are the pillars of brand-building and marketing. Fast-forward through thousands of hours of self-education, mentorship, and imperfect action, I created my signature 8-step process for brand development. And in February of 2022, I launched the Wild Womn Haus agency, where my team and I use this process to help female-founded brands push beyond what they believe is possible for their businesses.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest challenge throughout my career as an entrepreneur has been keeping my self-image separate from my business. I constantly affirm that my value as a human being is inherent and completely separate from the monetary value of my company. As entrepreneurs, we often muddle our self-worth with our business success, which can be extremely dangerous for our mental health. Reminding yourself that your identity is not “entrepreneur” can be life-changing because it reminds you that your worth is not attached to the amount of money your business makes.
We’ve been impressed with Wild Womn Haus LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wild Womn Haus is a collaborative brand strategy and design agency where my team and I provide brand and marketing services for entrepreneurs who identify as “industry rebels.” The people we work with aren’t afraid to operate outside the lines of tradition but also recognize that there is a difference between creating noise and creating real change. Anyone with a social media handle can attract attention and grow a following. But, virality and a large audience do not equal an impactful brand. You also have to know what to do with someone’s attention once you’ve earned it. And this is where Wild Womn Haus comes in. Clients who work with us always see an increase in revenue, community size, visibility, and recognition. But our true specialty lies in helping entrepreneurs identify their unique edge, market their “it” factor, and stand out in their niche. Essentially, we teach industry disruptors how to stand firmly in their individuality and create success on their terms.
