Meet Steve Schlesinger of Fabtex Graphics in North Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Schlesinger.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Steve. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started Fabtex in Sept. 2001 with a partner (2 weeks before 911) which was not great timing. The first 18 months was really tough with transitioning from being a Graphics guy to now running a production facility. In 2003 we landed Abercrombie & Fitch/Hollister as a client which put us on the map. At this point, we were only providing embroidery digitizing and laser cutting applique services. That account was 2 fold, very challenging to keep up with but provided the stability to grow and allowed access to other large clients. Due to circumstances with my partner in 2005, I had an opportunity to buy him out of the business, which I did. This was scary and amazing at the same time, really provided a lot of grown opportunity. In 2007 we built a building that would that would allow for expansion and provide additional services. In 2008 we added embroidery to our list of services and allow us to capture a new group of customers. In 2010 we added a screen-print department which really rounded out the company. Last but not least, we added a labeling department which opened doors in the retail market as we could now provide private labeling. At this point, we are providing a one stop facility that can handle any apparel decorating needs with a fast turn time and exceptional quality. Our focus at this point is Branding, clothing line development, promotional products, and anything you can put a logo on.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As far as I know, no road to success is ever smooth!

Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Fabtex Graphics – what should we know?
We are very proud to say we are “A one stop shop”. We never know what the next client request mat be but we rarely ever say no and we get some crazy requests. The diversity in our employees and their skill sets is what makes everything possible. If our clients can dream it, we can usually build it. Along with everything else we do on a daily basis, we are currently making golf club covers, making elf shoes, assembling elastic straps for note books, making patches and applying patches to stuffed animals, etc. It never seizes to amaze me the projects we get involved in.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My family has always been the backbone to having success in Business, it would be very tough without their support. Having great relationship with our clients is also very important as their referrals mean everything to us. Lastly, the employees and our Fabtex family is what really makes it work as we have to be with each other more than anyone else in our lives.
