Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Goldman.
Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I have always wanted to be an artist since the age of eight. My mother was an aspiring artist and passed that interest on to my younger and older brothers. My desire to improve as an artist led me to study at the Art Center College of Design, followed by numerous workshops in landscape painting which has been my focus since 1978.
Most of my earlier years were spent near the California coast, especially the San Diego area. In 1993 my wife and I moved to Tucson, Arizona where I exhibited for twenty years until 2013 when we moved to Prescott, Arizona where I am currently located.
Please tell us about your art.
The focus of my work is based on the study and interpretation of color, light, and a sense of place in the landscape.
I participate in several landscape painting venues such as the Maynard Dixon Country Show in Mt. Carmel, Utah, the Grand Canyon Celebration of Art, the Sedona Festival of Art, the Borrego Springs Invitational show in California, and others including the annual Phippen Museum Show in Prescott, Arizona. Many of these events require the artist to create a painting on the spot in a limited amount of time, which can be both challenging and educational.
Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national or international events and issues affect your art?
I record my impressions of the landscape and try to focus on that rather than let external national or international events affect my work. In that sense, my role as an artist has not changed.

My work can be seen at the Thunderbird Foundation Gallery in Mt. Carmel, Utah, Desert Mountain Fine Art in Scottsdale, Arizona, and the Bishop Gallery in Scottsdale, Arizona. Also at the Kolb Studio at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon thru December 2018.
