Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Steinke.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As an undergraduate, I was preparing to apply for the Physician’s Assistant program at Marquette University in Milwaukee Wisconsin. To do so I got a job as a Nurses Assistant for field experience. After observing 400-pound patients allowed to eat candy bars and soda, doctors infrequently touching their patients, and patients feeling their best only during visits from their family I wanted a different career. Thinking Nutrition might be a good start, I sought advice from a large university and was told I was overqualified to be a nutritionist.
They stated anatomy, physiology and biochemistry had nothing to do with nutrition and I was wasting my time. Later, my father, a farmer and greenhouse grower was expanding his vegetable and herb line and asked me to do some research on plants. The profession of Naturopathic Medicine was defined in one of the books. Within one afternoon of researching the Naturopathic field, I had discovered my career, one that fully aligned with my pre-medical education, natural upbringing and desire to help people toward optimal quality of life.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
If I had a smooth road I wouldn’t be as healthy and happy as I am today. In 2015 I was diagnosed with a Cavernous Malformation which is bleed in a small vessel of the brain. It was located in an inoperable area that controls motor function yet the malformation only explained 20% of the neurological symptoms I was experiencing that kept me from working and mothering my small child. Conventional medicine only offered strong drugs that came with many side effects. I knew my only option was to heal, the way I was taught. I trusted my medicine and had seen it work however I knew I needed more than the anti-oxidants from blueberries to heal this case.
Master Stephen Co my teacher of Pranic Healing, a Master Pranic Healer and personal disciple of Grandmaster Choa Kok Sui – the Modern founder of Pranic Healing heard of my situation and offered Pranic healing sessions. After 5 sessions I was 60% better, enough to get back on my feet with inspired action. Further, I had the opportunity to be an in-house guest at Ayra Veda Pharmacy, an Ayruvedic Hospital in Coimbatore, India where I received tridoshic food and herbal medicine. My symptoms are now 80-95% every day. I have been given another chance at life, and trust my medicine more than ever.
Please tell us about Health Through Nature.
Health Through Nature was founded in 2008. We were two young doctors starting a cash consulting practice during a time where no one had nor spent disposable income. Our practice mold started with asking ourselves, “if the world goes up in flames how will we be able to barter our services?”. We learned to treat people with our hands which is what we are known for; physical medicine, Pranic healing, Applied Kinesiology, and minimal natural medicines; nutritional optimization, botanicals, food as medicine, and homeopathy. We educate our patients on how to live simple and choose healthier diets and lifestyles.
What sets us aside from others is our eclectic variety of tools and that we spend the time to teach people to trust our bodies work as a whole and heal on its own. We teach people how to use cost-effective, safe, and natural tools and to have them at their disposal when they are suffering. We specialize in blood sugar imbalances such as pre-diabetes, diabetes, PCOS, hypoglycemia, metabolic syndrome, endocrine dysruption, subclinical infections, and symptoms of any kind that do not match a conventional diagnosis or are not responding well to conventional treatment.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
Playing on the farm. Being raised on a pig-farm my playground was 500 acres. I did not know it then but it was freedom. I got to play with baby pigs, kittens, ducks and chickens all times of the year. Most importantly it was being able to observe nature. How it grew and ripened, how it was messy and at times sad. It was always absolutely beautiful.
