Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Francis.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I created Scottsdale Premier Counseling in 2017 after having my third child. Scottsdale Premier Counseling is a mental health private practice located in North Scottsdale. As a mother of three children (ages 6, 4, & 2) I needed to have flexibility in my schedule for my children. I was fortunate to find a location that is central to my children’s school and our home.
Has it been a smooth road?
Creating your own business is never a smooth process. I anticipated bumps and challenges with developing ethically compliant paperwork. I often consulted with seasoned providers. I am grateful to have such a supportive network.
However, the hardest challenge for any mental health provider is obtaining clients. You worry that they won’t find you or will choose to work with someone else based on a variety of factors (i.e., cost, likability, convenience, specialty, etc.). I had to let all that worry go. Instead, I chose to focus on building relationships with outside resources in order to obtain referrals.
I worked hard on my website so that it was user-friendly and potential patients could get a sense of who I was. Reputation is so important in any business.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from The American School of Professional Psychology. I obtained my M.A. in Community Counseling from John Carroll University and my B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at Arizona State University. I specialize in the treatment of sexually compulsive behavior, mood disorders, couple relationships, trauma, emotional eating, and body image. I provide individual, couples, and family therapy. I also specialize in the treatment of issues specific to Young Adults.
My most current engagement is the highly anticipated Powerhouse Women’s Event on September 8th, 2018 at Mountain Shadows Resort. I will be one of the guest speakers featured at this event. My talk will focus on how to create and cultivate a healthy body image. I am thrilled to be a part of this opportunity to help women get out of their own way in order to restore their empowerment. I am a nationally recognized treatment specialist who’s work has been frequently featured in the media. I have served as a frequent guest on FOX 10 Phoenix Morning Show discussing topics on sexual health and relationships.
The Morning Scramble with Pat McMahon has also continually invited me to be a guest speaker on current events and pop culture. My knowledge on infidelity, boundaries, and body image has been featured in published literature. My article “Why Men Cheat” in Rebel Magazine was a top seller.
Additionally, my chapter in the book titled, “Beautiful Hair Restoration,” regarding the challenges and solutions women face dealing with hair loss was commended. In 2016, I was nominated for the MASK (Mother’s Awareness on School-Aged Kids) Unity Award. I now serve on the board of MASK as a Women of Influence.
Is our city a good place to do what you do?
I feel really blessed to live in Arizona because we have so many mental health resources. So if a potential client comes to me with an issue out of my scope of practice I can refer to other providers.
Additionally, I have received tremendous support from the community.
