Meet Lori Oberbroeckling

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Lori Oberbroeckling. Lori was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Megan Befort.

Lori, can you walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Thanks so much for having me! My name is Lori Oberbroeckling, and I am a wife, mom of four, corporate executive, and author of the new book “Secrets of Supermom: How Extraordinary Moms Succeed at Work and Home & How You Can Too!” I have spent years climbing the corporate ladder while staying a present and involved mom. Along the way, moms kept saying to me, “I don’t know how you do it!” When the pandemic started and everyone’s world was turned upside down, I realized that moms were struggling more than ever. I wanted to help moms develop the strategies and habits to feel present and engaged in all areas of their life. I wanted moms to feel successful instead of burned out, overwhelmed, and guilty about everything. I wanted moms to be happy. I wrote the book “Secrets of Supermom” to help moms have the career and the family of their dreams–without sacrificing either.

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
Launching my book this year has given me more than I could have ever imagined! Moms are reaching out to me on Facebook or Instagram and telling me how the book has changed their life. They are sharing with me the strategies they have started using and how they are working. They are sharing their struggles with me via email. I am connecting with more moms than ever before and these connections mean the world to me. Helping moms be more productive, better at managing their time, focus on their health, or simply be happier by setting the right priorities has been a dream come true. I am excited to be launching a podcast at the end of April–called, you guessed it, The Secrets of Supermom Show–and for all the other fun to come in 2021.

As you know, we’re big fans of Megan Befort and we know you’ve worked with them quite a bit as well. We’d love to hear about your experience working with Megan Befort.
Every year since I was pregnant with my second kiddo, I have convinced my family to endure family photos. Essentially I have said to my kids and my husband, “This is the most important thing to Mommy. So, once a year, everyone will wear what I ask and be happy so we can get some amazing photos.” I would schedule a posed photo session, and I was happy.

But over the last few years, I really wanted something more. I didn’t just want us posed in our cute outfits. I didn’t want us just looking at the camera in the desert or on a mountain. We have so much fun together. I wanted to capture that. We laugh a lot. I wanted to capture that. We are loud and we talk a lot and we like to play. I wanted to capture that. We may not live in this house forever. I wanted to capture the house that the kids grew up in. Our dogs won’t live forever. I wanted to capture them.

As a busy mom, I am not in most of our photos. The kids, sure. Daddy, sure. But I am in so few. And when I am, it is mostly a quick posed photo captured by Jeremy. It isn’t us snuggling on the couch. It isn’t us reading in the bed. It isn’t giggling about silly jokes. It isn’t the everyday joys that are most important to me.

It was REALLY hard to find someone who captured what I wanted. I looked at many photographers over probably two years. As talented as so many of them are, no one was capturing exactly what I wanted, at least not in Phoenix. And then I found Megan!

She was EXACTLY what I was looking for in a photographer. She did in-home sessions. She captured a few posed photos but mostly captured candid, documentary-style snuggles and laughs and happiness. She captured silly faces, kids’ hobbies, and even sweet parent moments. And she captured video! A bonus I didn’t even know I wanted at the time.

Booking was all online and easy as can be. When Megan arrived for our session, the kids fell in love with her instantly. They wanted to show her EVERYTHING. She started snapping away and for 2 hours never stopped. She captured us together. She captured the kids separately with their hobbies and showing their personalities. She captured tiny details of our home that we will now never forget. She captured so many laughs and conversations. It was perfect in every way.

Every mom deserves to have her family captured in this way. The real cuddles on the couch. The real fun cooking or reading or playing games together. The real bike rides or playing catch or pool time. Real and beautiful. The memories that I never want to forget.
