Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah Padilla.
Jeremiah, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
So let’s start after high school. I have always liked helping people and serving people and I have always had a business mindset and artistic mindset, so after Highschool, I went straight into community college finished my prereqs for the nursing program (because I planned to finish RN school to start a business related to the medical field), and always had my eye on being an RN. While I waited on the nursing program waiting list, I got my CNA license while I waited and started working at the hospital as fast forward to nursing school. I finally got in and started my schooling and let me tell you. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done in my life. It is a rigorous course.
In nursing school, each semester is referred to as blocks so I was on my last semester/4th block of nursing school and was teetering back and forth from passing and failing, took my last final and my world turned upside down. Unfortunately, after two and half years of little to no sleep, blood sweat, and tears (lol), I missed the passing score by two questions on the final, which is 1% away from passing the whole program. I was devastated.
I went into a really sad time of my life and as a follower of Christ, I wanted to blame Jesus and God for not letting pass, Throughout nursing school, I devoted my life to school and trying to pass and I put my faith in the back burner. But then I realized that it was God telling me that Nursing was not meant for me. I always tell people that God slapped me upside the head and told me through me not passing school, “ye of little faith,” and it is true. Because I was so focused on me, myself and I, my relationship with God grew smaller and smaller and did not trust Him in all the things I tried to do. So I asked for forgiveness and focused on Him and my faith in Him and let me be the person to tell you it was the best feeling. I wasn’t worried or sad about not passing anymore and God showed me that nursing wasn’t the only thing that I could do in life, with Him doing that it showed to find different ways where I can work on my terms and have time to do the things that I love to do like play the drums for The Frontline Worship Band and Fil-Am International Baptist Church.
With that being said, I picked up the book and read “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki and it changed my mindset on finances and my view on working a W2 job. So I started my photography business and focused on Portraits (Family, Models, and do events as well). On top of my photography, I also have a podcast and a personal brand called JP’s Perspective, where I focus on Faith and mindset as an entrepreneur. Also, in the process of building my Real Estate portfolio.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been an easy road. Of course, with every failure in life, the more resilient you become everyone has failures, with the digital age people show success highlights but I want everyone to remember that everyone has hard times in life. It’s how you get back up so that you grow as a person. With God on my side, I know that I have someone that will lead me to the right path.
Proverbs 3:5-6. New International Version 5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Let’s start with Jeremiah 2911 Productions. I started this photography business because I wanted to have an artistic outlet for the busyness of life. It worked out perfectly because I love seeing friend’s reactions after they see their final products of photos. I call them friends because this business is about relationships and if you treat people the way you want to be treated and not just a client. It becomes a lot easier during the photoshoots. For my photography business, I mostly do portraits, and I also shoot some events as well.
The second one is called JP’s Perspective, which is my personal brand, where I run a Podcast and make content for Youtube as well. This business is free for everyone, after what happened in my life. I wanted to share my journey in hopes to encourage other people and hopefully help them through my experiences in life.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success, in my opinion, is being able to do what I love to do any time of the day and year, also to serve God before I serve my business. Having that foundation gives me the confidence that even though my failures, there is something bigger coming and that God has a plan for me.
Jeremiah 29:11 New International Version 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
