Meet Jeannine Hinds

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeannine Hinds.

Jeannine, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I am a licensed family medicine physician doing contractual work with a hospital based system for which I have been working for six years or so now. About three years ago, I realized that my calling was not just to traditional medicine, but the community health. So, I formed a nonprofit and build a mobile clinic to go out into the community and provide services where they are needed the most.

My passion for meeting the needs of the homeless population and other vulnerable groups sparked the desire to build my mobile unit fashioned after the design of tiny houses. Hence, the name TinyHouseDoc. I hope that all who enter that house will leave with all of their needs met.

To that end, I not only offer medical services, but I also offer spiritual support services and am hoping to add a mobile pantry, pharmacy, and behavioral health services to the unit as well. It is my goal to make TinyHouseDoc a house of hope and healing for all.

Has it been a smooth road?
This road has not been completely smooth. There have been some financial challenges as well as some physical challenges. Our brand new unit was recently vandalized and requires repairs that will cost upwards of $2500 – an extra expense that we just don’t have in our budget right now. Nonetheless, it is my dream and compassion for those in need that drives me to keep moving forward because I know that it will all be worth it in the end.

Tell us more about your organization.
TinyHouseDoc offers faith based medical services to those in need. We are known for how we serve the community with compassion and selfless giving. I am most proud that there are no barriers to care with our company. Anybody from any background with any condition of any age can be seen by TinyHouseDoc regardless of their ability to pay. What sets us apart from others is that we are willing to go into the communities where the needs are and be a full service provider on the spot. No questions asked.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I see TinyHouseDoc being a brand across this nation and maybe even across the world. I see life changing events happening in these streets because of TinyHouseDoc. I see communities being made whole and broken systems coming together to better serve our most vulnerable populations.
