Meet Debbie Johnstone of Listen2Animals and 818 Light Codes in Cave Creek

Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Johnstone.

Debbie, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My world felt very vibrant and magical as I grew up in a small town in Ohio. At age 2, my best friend was a little black and white cat named Boots, who belonged to our neighbor. We spent lots of time having engaging conversations with one another. At that time, I believed that everyone could hear and communicate with Boots as I did. Many invisible friends (Angels and spirit guides) were a part of my everyday playtime. When I played outside, I gravitated to finding caterpillars, lightning bugs, wild birds, and other animals to commune with.

Around age 7, my mother and father decided to move to Florida, and my mother determined that it was time for me to leave my imaginary friends behind. She told me that I was growing up, and it was time for me to live in the real world and let go of my “imaginary friends.” And so I did. I stopped hearing the animals and let my Angel and spirit friends go for many years.

Fast forward to 1985. For several years, I had worked for a large Financial Services company in the customer service department. Helping people was a joy to me. An opportunity to apply for their internal computer programmer training program was offered to me. No one was as surprised as I was that they chose me to participate in the program. Who could have guessed that I had the aptitude to program a mainframe computer? The training was long and hard, but I graduated and was offered an entry-level job in their IT department. I loved the job and advanced very quickly; Another position was offered to me when the company launched its Internet presence. The company then relocated my husband and me to Phoenix, Arizona, in 1992.

Working 20+ years in a technologies environment was truly rewarding. I learned how to manage people, products, and projects; build and manage a budget; build and implement large web-based programs and services. It was a very fast-paced and demanding environment. Eventually, I became emotionally and physically depleted. I had always planned to stay with the company until it was time for me to retire; however, my body and soul had another plan.

This emotional and physical depletion brought on an illness. The team of Doctors I sought out could not diagnose what was wrong. I began feeling like it was time for me to take back control of my own health. When September 11, 2001, occurred, the enormity of the event caused me to reflect on what was important to me and what I wanted from my life. I decided it was time to leave my corporate job and go back to doing what I loved. I just couldn’t figure out what that was…at least not at first.

At this point in time, I took control of my healthcare by obtaining the assistance of both a Naturopathic Physician and an Energy Healer. At my second appointment with the Energy Healer, he asked me if I wanted to talk with animals. Without hesitation, I said “yes,” and all that I had experienced and loved as a child came flooding back to me. It became instantly apparent to me that this is what I wanted to do. I wanted to be a full-time Animal Communicator and leave my corporate job. This led me to create a plan, begin practicing animal communication again by working with local animal rescue groups. Ultimately I left my corporate job two years later. My company, Listen2Animals, opened shortly afterward. I have been helping people understand and have conversations with their animal companions as a professional Animal Communicator for the last 16 years.

The other part of my business, now called 818 Light Codes, began developing slowly and organically in 2007. I began intuitively receiving simple black and white images. These images would just come into my mind and wouldn’t leave me until I committed them to a digital image. A couple of years later, those simple images evolved into beautiful, colorful geometric shapes and patterns. As individual images arrived, I realized that each one had a specific purpose. It eventually became obvious to me that the physical drawings represented templates of light, color, and energy.

As these images began to arrive, a friend of mine introduced me to the Emotion Code healing system. After experiencing positive results from those sessions, I became a certified Emotion Code Practitioner. Through research and experimentation, my friend and I, then other healers, learned that when specific Light Codes were installed into an energy field, they gently and powerfully initiated a positive shift. That collection has now grown to more than 100 designs known as the 818 Light Codes.

At the time I began receiving the Light Codes, I also began seeing the numbers 818. These numbers represented to me the phrase “As Above, So Below.” The purpose of the 818 Light Codes is to restore the higher energies of Heaven on Earth. This became the inspiration for the name of the collection.

People who view the Light Codes generally notice an energetic feeling in their body. Many times a Light Code will evoke a sense of Peace, Joy, Love, or Well-Being. Each Light Code is “Created” with DIVINE LOVE, “Infused” with DIVINE LIGHT and is “Powered” by DIVINE BREATH.

These powerful 818 Light Codes have given birth to an entirely new aspect of my business. They have become an integral part of my Animal Communications as well as the Energetic Healing work I do for animal companions and humans.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The transition from a large, structured corporate environment to a home-based business has been relatively smooth. Learning to balance my time and workload was a challenge. Initially, I was so excited and loved doing this work so much that I worked all the time.

As I was building up my clientele, I didn’t feel like I could say “no” to anyone at any time. So I worked daytime, nighttime, and weekends, which eventually created a pretty unbalanced work/life balance. I soon learned that if my energy level was depleted, I could not help my clients. Eventually, I implemented and published a schedule that works well for my clients and me.

There was one other area that was a little more challenging, at least at first. Letting go of a full-time salary and benefits was a bit scary. Creating a budget and sticking to it really helped me overcome this fear.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
My animal communication sessions are for animals who are alive and for those animals who have crossed over and are in spirit. I communicate with animals by connecting energetically to them and intuitively receiving answers. I help resolve issues such as the reason behind a change in an animal’s behavior or a health issue. By communicating with the animal, I can communicate to the animal’s human companion a greater understanding of the animal’s physical and emotional conditions as well as their wishes regarding death and dying.

Individual 818 Light Code energetic healing sessions and Emotion Code sessions for people and animals are available by scheduling an appointment through my website. Additionally, I create personalized Light Codes and Light Code videos that clients have found very beneficial.

Currently, I do speaking engagements and workshops in the Phoenix metropolitan area where I teach Animal Communication, Tapping into Intuition, and How to Work with the 818 Light Codes. Coaching and teaching these skills to individuals brings me great delight.

Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
While I work in an energetic and intuitive realm most of the time, I’ve learned that it is essential to maintain structure to my business and time. This helps keep my life and work in balance.

Communicating authentically with clients is a hallmark of my success. As a channel and a messenger for communicating spiritual messages, I feel I must deliver the message exactly as I receive it to ensure that my clients receive the information in as pure a form as possible.

It’s not really my job to interpret. It is my job to deliver the message as if they were receiving it directly from the source. Many times I do not understand the message I’m delivering. However, my clients immediately recognize that it is significant to them.
