Meet Carmen Garza of GigShots! in Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carmen Garza.

Carmen , can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been a creative person and interested in art and photography. However, it wasn’t until 1986 that I decided to learn more about the craft so, I began my formal art education at Ray College of Design (formerly Ray-Vogue) in downtown Chicago. What a perfect city to be an artist/photographer with endless forms of art to shoot pictures of. In 1988, I formed my first photography company Handsome Prints Photography in south Florida prior to moving to Orlando. After 10 years in Florida, I moved to my current location Phoenix, Arizona. My company evolved into what it is called today GigShots! I specialize in many forms of photography such as live concerts, band promos, family, corporate, fashion, head shots, events and I am an internationally published photojournalist with hundreds of concert reviews. GigShots! serves the greater Phoenix metropolitan area, but I have also been known to travel to Southern California to the Coachella Music & Arts Festival and various other bands. As recently as 2017, GigShots! is continuing to evolve so I have begun offering videography services. It is an exciting time for GigShots! and I personally can’t wait to see what the future brings.

Has it been a smooth road?
As anyone who has started their own business will tell you, it’s not unusual to experience a few struggles along the way. After all, anything worth having is worth fighting for. Right? Well, GigShots! is no exception. After several starts and stops to my business, with each time being fewer and farther between, I am happy to be fulfilling my photographic passion full time. There is nothing that makes me happier than creating art through my lens.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
GigShots! specializes in music related photography such as: concerts, band promos and music festivals. However, I also shoot family, corporate, fashion, architectural and event photography. I am an internationally published photojournalist and have recently begun offering videography services to my customers. I have photographed approximately 200 plus musicians/bands/artists thus far.
