Meet Brian Thomas

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Thomas.

Brian, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I started practicing Baptiste Power Yoga in 2011 and I was immediately hooked. The strong global community and the physicality of the practice had me hooked. In June 2018 I retired from a career in law enforcement. I decided to follow my dream and create a Baptist power yoga community here in Phoenix. I know how this practice changed my life and I could not wait to share this gift with everyone here in Arizona. That’s how Baptiste Power Yoga Phoenix was born.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not been a smooth road since inception. I made lots of mistakes at the beginning with the legal paperwork, filing with the Arizona Corporation Commission to start an LLC. Luckily my wife Mallory is a small business owner and she has been great health and helping me mitigate any other mistakes along the way. As we started creating events, we learned what worked and what didn’t work. We received great feedback from our customers which helped us make our next event experience better.

Please tell us about your business.
We are an event based pop-up yoga studio. We host yoga events all around the Phoenix metropolitan area. We are also passionate about giving back to local and global charities. In 2019, as a community, we raised thousands of dollars for the Love Your Brain Foundation, The Arizona Humane Society, and The Baptiste Foundation to name a few.

WHY we created Baptiste Power Yoga Phoenix: We are a collective of sweat-seeking, fun-loving, beer-drinking, coffee-sipping, lululemon-wearing yogis who are up to something bigger than ourselves in Phoenix AZ (and around the world). What lights us up is finding like-minded partners and elevating each other. We are STRONGER together. We stand for deep community, possibilities for growth on and off your mat, and a place to be yourself. There is a place here for YOU.
