Meet Allison Gee of Allison Gee Fine Art Appraisals

Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Gee.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I earned a Master of Arts in Art History from Arizona State University, and I began working for another art appraiser in Phoenix. I then started taking courses through the American Society of Appraisers and became an Accredited Senior Appraiser with a designation in Fine Art through the American Society of Appraisers.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I was incredibly lucky to have such a generous mentor, but I also believe in creating your own luck. You have to be prepared to grab it when an opportunity presents itself. It’s not always a smooth road, but you must keep driving! I believe in yoga, German Shepherds, tulips, great art and an amazing pair of shoes to help me stay focused and inspired when it seems as though the chips are all down.

Allison Gee Fine Art Appraisals – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am a fine art appraiser, and my practice focuses on American and European paintings, sculptures and works on paper. I work primarily for clients who need appraisals for estate taxes and estate planning; charitable donations; equitable distributions for dissolution of business or marriage; insurance scheduling and insurance claims. I get to see the most amazing art up close and personal, and I even get to touch it! It’s a dream that I actually get paid to see and research art. I am most proud that I have been in business for 15 years and that my firm survived the Great Recession.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is having independence, freedom and good health. Anything else is just a cherry on the top of the sundae. I’m always looking for and trying to create positive energy, and if I can surround myself with people, things, and experiences that make me happy, then I am successful.
