Today we’d like to introduce you to Parshe’ Johnson.
Hi Parshe’, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always loved to bake but never thought I would do it professionally. One day, my husband brought me home some mason jar desserts and I thought it was such a good idea and I posed a question on Facebook asking if I were to start making something similar if people would buy. I got a huge response of yes and it started from there. I then transitioned myself into baking cookies, and that’s when I became popular in my community. I was then known as the Neighborhood Cookie Plug. Chocolate Chip Cookies to be specific.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been an interesting road. I would say, full of lots of learning opportunities. I would say my biggest struggle has been doing it all on my own. I definitely receive help from my husband and daughters, but being responsible for getting it all done comes with a lot of pressure. This year I hired a Brand Manager. I call her My Renée and she has helped me so much. I now have more time to focus on baking.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business is Sugar Star Sweet Treats. I was given the name Sugar Star as a baby by my Father. I specialize in Gourmet Variety Chocolate Chip Cookies. I sell cookies by the dozen and in wholesale forms to businesses. I am most proud of my work ethic, my consistency in producing a quality product, and my connection to the Black Community in Phoenix. They show up for me and I love them for it.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
I make a chocolate chip cookie for everyone. My traditional cookies are my favorite, but I also want people who are Vegan, on Keto or who have a Gluten intolerance to know that I make a chocolate chip cookie for them too. My goal to have a chocolate chip cookie for everyone!
