Today we’d like to introduce you to Dixie Landrum.
Dixie, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’ve always been obsessed with photography. As a little girl I would line up my stuffed animals and photograph them on my bed or in my mom’s garden. In middle school and high school, I would dress-up my friends and pose them, in college I took photoshop and photography classes as my electives. After becoming a stay at home mom, I craved a creative outlet to break up the monotony of laundry, diapers and cartoons. I bought myself a Nikon and started taking photos of friends and family. A few years in I found that engagements and weddings weren’t my thing. I turned my attention to maternity, newborns, children and families. This is where I found my passion and purpose.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I love creating lasting memories of fleeting moments. My goal with every session is to not only give timeless images but also create a lasting fun memory of the whole experience. My sessions are always interactive, full of movement, laughs and snuggles, this is where the true magic happens!
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Competition over community mindset. I see so many artists defeated by others. Instead of comparing ourselves and judging we need to bring each other up and support one another.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
