Story & Lesson Highlights with Shaedy Cardenas of Central Phoenix

We recently had the chance to connect with Shaedy Cardenas and have shared our conversation below.

Shaedy, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
Yes, a recent moment when I felt proud was when my sister and I were driving home from Mexico. We accidentally took a detour and drove through Casa Grande – that’s where I saw my client’s brand on a billboard. This was a proud moment for me to see my client’s logo on a big scale, and for the entire city to see.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Yes, my name is Shaedy, I’m a graphic designer and owner of Ten11Studios, formerly known as Shaedyc.co. I help individuals and brands elevate their digital footprint; ranging from logos and business cards to social media presentation, and many other custom prints.
In 2024 I expanded my creative services into custom slides, headbands and personalized handbags with hand-painted and hand-sewn embellishments. My second business is called PrettyGirlStudios on IG – I love to create beautiful things with my hands and will continue to expand my talents in the near future.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was once a very soft, timid, and shy girl – always intelligent and open minded, but that side of me I kept inside. When I hit preteens and experienced a different side of life I started to be more “rowdy” and outspoken, not always perceived in a positive manner. Now, since losing my Mom this past year 2024, and going into my 30’s I’ve started to tone down my spunkiness a bit. I’m trying to tap into a softer, peaceful side of myself, a calm woman but still with an intimidating presence and that’s the person I’d like to present as moving forward. My businesses definitely help with this as I’m able to recreate what’s inside in an artistic manner.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
Absolutely. I miss the way I could send my Mom a snippet of a creative project I was working on. She would give me a positive response, or suggest ideas to improve. Sometimes I don’t always feel comfortable sharing online for multiple eyes to see, I miss having that one set of approval, and I definitely miss having her in my corner to hype me up during insecure moments.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say yes, and that’s a big reason why my social media goes through periods of inactivity. When I’m high in life I may be more active, and when I’m low, not so much. I think many artists like me that also work a demanding corporate job can agree that we go through highs and lows as it pertains to creating, and showing up online.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in a creative mindset. I work a set schedule throughout the week, and those moments after hours or on the weekends where I can grab my favorite drink, put on music or a good show, and just really dive into my creative side is what makes me feel at peace. Lately I’ve been loving coloring with glitter pens right before bed to wind down.
