Story & Lesson Highlights with Hank Robinson of West side

Hank Robinson shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Hank , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is a normal day like for you right now?
Normal day for me currently is a race to the finish line. I’m in the middle of my busiest travel schedule. So i am engraving 12 plus hours a day, and traveling almost every week to engrave live at shows. Nothing but the grind.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Hank Robinson, and I’m proud to be a Combat Infantryman Veteran. I served deployments in Kosovo, Iraq, and Afghanistan, and was honored to receive the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Bronze Star with Valor, and the Army Commendation Medal with Valor. Those awards represent moments where I stood alongside brothers who gave everything, and I carry their memory with me every day.

After my military service, I found a new path through engraving. Today, I’m fortunate to be the official engraver for Monster Energy, turning metal into art that tells stories of resilience and grit.

Most importantly, I’m a husband of 18 years and a father of three. My family is my greatest source of strength, and every step I take — whether in service, in art, or in life is for the them

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
100% my wife, She has been with me before i started my engraving journey never once doubted my new path. Spent years working in the garage making zero money. Going to trade shows for years losing money, still never doubted. I almost quit multipole times and she always talked me out of it.

Is there something you miss that no one else knows about?
I don’t miss war for the fighting. What I miss is the brotherhood — the unbreakable bond of men standing shoulder to shoulder, knowing we’d do anything for each other. I miss the clarity of purpose, waking up every day with a mission that mattered, with no distractions. And I miss the simplicity of survival, when life boiled down to the basics: stay alive, protect your brothers, get the job done.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My kids! Ive sacrified so much so they can have the life i dreamed they could have. They are absolutely everything to me

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
Most people want to grind everyday to blow up and make it, Ive always had the mentality of grinding so hard to disappear.
