Story & Lesson Highlights with FO’TAY of Glendale

We recently had the chance to connect with FO’TAY and have shared our conversation below.

FO’TAY, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from life. Cliche maybe but it’s true. I’m learning from personal past experiences & just being observant & in tune with the world around me. I’ve made it a point to be more aware, open eyed, & open minded. It seems to be paying off for me in my daily life & in my creative works.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I go by FO’TAY, (formerly known as Tay Way last time we worked together.)
I was born & raised in Cincinnati, OH but migrated to Arizona around 2017.

I’m an artist/songwriter & as of June this year I became a record label/media agency owner called NO OUTLET.
I started NO OUTLET with childhood friends & a couple new to provide a one stop shop for artists, producers, & other creatives to bring their vision to life & give them a fighting chance in the music/entertainment business.

At NO OUTLET, we’re gearing up to provide marketing, branding, artist development, audio/visual production, & studio time services. I don’t want to give away too too much, but that’s pretty much what I’ve been focused on these days.

Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Becoming a father really shaped my perspective on the world.
It gave me better clarity, & forced me to be more intentional & aware.
It actually 10x my ambitions & vision.
My son forced me to take action & stop waiting & hoping for the change I wanted to see around me.
I tapped into my superhuman abilities after having my son LOL

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Of course! I
think with any BIG dream, there will come times throughout the journey you tend to question yourself & your capabilities of achieving said dream at times, which I just chalk up to growing pains & part of the journey.
That self doubt that pops up from time to time, in my mind, is just a reminder that I am on the path of something greater than myself, & I use that to reel myself back into a more empowering, confident mental state.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
I believe they would tell you freedom & time means the most to me. For all of us. Financial freedom. The freedom to express ourselves & our ideas. The freedom to REALLY think.

As far as time, I’m so conscious of how important it is not to waste. How fast it moves, & how revealing it can be to truth.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
When I’m gone, I hope people speak about my passion & resilience.
I want people to speak of times I motivated or inspired them to truly be themselves. Or gave them a platform to make THEIR dreams come true.
That he went the extra mile to leave no room for failure.
I hope things I did behind the scenes that I never publicly spoke on comes out in front of all of my loved ones & peers.
