Camora Fuller shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Camora , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
The most recent moments that have made me proud have had to do with my newest salon suite business venture. The first moment would be when we filled our last suite and the second moment would be seeing everyone in the suites getting along, supporting each other, and laughing together. It truly is an amazing feeling being able to bring people together and build genuine connections.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Camora Fuller and I am a licensed nail technician and salon suite owner in Glendale, Arizona. My nail journey started in the beginning of 2020 before the pandemic and once I graduated from nail technology school, I decided to quit my job and become a full-time nail tech working on commission. Up until 2024, I’ve moved every year to a new location due to either unfulfilled promises made by the shop owner or there were issues with the shop’s location. Even though I had issues with the first 3 locations, the 4th location turned out to be the space that allowed me to grow the most! After being there for a year and a half I decided to embark on my dream to open salon suites myself. In October of 2024, my mother, who is my Best friend, and myself officially opened the doors to our business Pure Essence Studios. Each of my experiences across the various salons I’ve worked in has helped me identify and ultimately fill a gap I saw in the salon suite business model. We really want our tenants to feel like they are family. Beyond offering a clean, luxury space, we provide ongoing support and actively promote our professionals’ businesses to help them achieve maximum growth. I believe this personalized approach is a key reason we’ve filled all of our suites, it truly sets us apart from the larger, more generic salon suite chains.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Growing up, I always knew I was meant to make a name for myself, I just wasn’t sure how it would happen. I’ve always been a creative, and whenever I explored something new, if I could picture myself doing it on a bigger scale, I’d go straight to my mom and pitch the idea to her. No matter what it was, she supported me in every way possible. She always told me, ‘You can do anything you set your mind to,’ and because of that, I truly believed it. She was the first person to see the dreamer in me, and that belief is what kept my vision alive. Now, I’m finally building the life I’ve always dreamed of, and when I make it, I can’t wait to thank her in the BIGGEST way.
What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Honestly, for a long time, I let the fear of being seen hold me back. I know I’ve missed out on opportunities because I wasn’t ready to put myself out there. But two years ago, I made a vow to myself to do better, to stop letting fear lead, and to chase what I want with confidence and courage. And I’ve been showing up for myself ever since.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
In my heart, I’ve always known I was destined for a rich, luxurious, and carefree life, and I’m fully committed to bringing that vision to life. Entrepreneurship has always been part of the lifestyle I dreamed of, and now, as the proud owner of two businesses, I can truly feel that dream taking shape. Two years ago, I changed my mind set and started moving with clear intention, aligning every step with the life I wanted to build. And I can honestly say, it’s working beautifully. I’m so proud of how far I’ve come, and even more excited for the woman I’m becoming.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Beyond the amazing nail art, I know what truly keeps my clients coming back is the connection we share. If I ever retired, I think they’d miss our heart-to-hearts just as much as the nails, maybe even more. For many of my loyal clients, our appointments are more than just beauty sessions, they have a chance to unwind, vent, and binge watch whatever new show or movie I’ve put them on to. It’s those shared moments that make what I do so special.
