Story & Lesson Highlights with Alyssa Hall of Chandler

We recently had the chance to connect with Alyssa Hall and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Alyssa, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Now that my fall wedding season has started, my normal day goes like this: drop my daughters off at school, make coffee and breakfast, then get to work editing my weddings. One of my goals is to really stay on top of my workload and not feel like I’m falling behind so that I am meeting my deadlines! That all starts NOW!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
For couples who feel deeply, love boldly, and want their story told with heart.

Your love is one-of-a-kind — full of quiet glances, joyful tears, and unforgettable moments. My job is to preserve all of that in a way that feels timeless and true to you.

I’m Alyssa, a Southern California native now based in Chandler, Arizona. I specialize in capturing the essence of your wedding day — not just how it looked, but how it felt.

I believe that your soul knows when it’s onto something good. Brings a new meaning to the term “soulmate” doesn’t it? That’s why I pour everything into photographing your wedding with care, intention, and a deep respect for the people and moments that matter most to you. You’re creating a legacy — I’m here to help you remember it beautifully.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Having my 2 daughters has really shown me how to see the world as beautiful (and scary) as it is. I want them to know that the life we can make for ourselves is amazing, fun, and full of love. I want them to embrace the little things. But that unfortunately doesn’t come without knowing darkness. This is why I need to show them how to be strong, independent and aware but most importantly, how to find the light.

What fear has held you back the most in your life?
Not being good enough. It’s always a scary feeling to think you may fail at something you want to be good at. I love wedding photography and the power and love that images can evoke in myself and others. I was laid off from my full-time job in Feb. 2023 and if there was a ever a time to take the leap into full-time wedding photography, that was it and it was terrifying! What if I couldn’t provide for my family like I used to? What if I suddenly dislike doing this full-time? SO many fears and questions I had like that held me back from really understanding how much I love what I do and how excited I am to be finally be pursuing it now.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
There are two for me!

The first is that “luxury” means a Pinterest-perfect ballroom or a Scottsdale resort. Real luxury (to me) is about experience, not just location. A micro-wedding at a private estate in Phoenix or an art-forward modern downtown wedding celebration can be just as luxe as a Ritz-Carlton.

The second is styled shoots equal bookings. Styled shoots are great for creativity and publication, but they don’t always translate to the real weddings couples are booking. Sometimes the industry convinces itself that more styled shoots means proof of success.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you tap dancing to work? Have you been that level of excited at any point in your career? If so, please tell us about those days.
YES. More so now than ever! I took a step back last year so I can be more present with my family and focused more on second and associate shooting weddings. Doing that not only reminded me how much I love photographing weddings but it also lit a fire in me to get back out there and start booking my own again. I felt myself trying to restrain from acting like a lead photographer! I am so excited to serve my own couples this year and in 2026!
