We’re looking forward to introducing you to Safiya Femi . Check out our conversation below.
Hi Safiya , thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Pure joy for me comes from slow, sacred moments now. sunlight on my skin, the luxury of calm, my body free from old survival patterns. I am abundance, and life whispers ‘“yes”’ to me in many ways that feel divine, and I am full of gratitude!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Safiya Femi, founder of A Reflection Within, and my work is deeply personal because it grew from my own healing.
After living years in survival mode living with Multiple Sclerosis and other personal trauma I became committed to finding a way to feel safe in my own body again.
That journey led me to holistic methods like Reiki, hypnotherapy, and other holistic practices, which allowed me to heal my nervous system and reconnect with the beauty of life.
What makes my work unique is that it’s not about instant gratification, easing the mind or soothing the body it’s about regulating the nervous system and healing the whole self mind body and soul.
I help individuals create a mind-body-soul connection that becomes their foundation for peace, manifestation, and joy. My sessions are sacred spaces where old patterns are released, the nervous system learns safety, and the soul remembers its power.
For me, healing is metaphysical addressing the mind body and spirit and when we heal them all, transformation becomes inevitable
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I had to be, I was simply existing — living the only way I knew how: to survive.
By the age of 20, I had lost my mother, my father was absent from my life, and I had already experienced more trauma than most could imagine… including the pain of being abused by him at just 5 years old.
I was raising a 2-year-old, with two more children yet to be born, carrying the weight of responsibilities I was never prepared for.
Survival became my identity. I didn’t know there was another way to live. But somewhere along the way, I began to lose my old self — and as painful as that was, it also became the doorway to my awakening.
Stepping into the best version of me has been a bittersweet journey… grieving the girl who had to grow up too soon, while embracing the woman I’ve fought to become.
That transformation is the heartbeat of my work today — helping others release the weight of their trauma, heal their nervous system, and finally experience a life that feels soft, safe, and deeply free.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to stand fully in my own power without needing external validation.
In a world where everyone is drowning in their own storms, no one is coming to save you. I learned that my peace and healing could not depend on anyone else’s approval, attention, or presence.
The pain once felt unbearable but it became my teacher. It showed me that the fight was never about others, but about reclaiming my own soul. I learned to stop seeking approval, to stop waiting for someone else to show up, and to walk fully in my own power.
Success showers you with applause; suffering hands you a mirror and forces you to stare into your own divine being.
Suffering stripped me of illusions—about dependency, about fairness, about who would ride for me—and left me with something far more valuable: unshakable self-trust. I learned to mother myself, to advocate for me, to become my own source of safety in a chaotic world.
That’s the gift hardship gave me healing and clarity.
Now I move differently. I don’t hustle for belonging; I carry belonging within me. My authenticity isn’t just my superpower—it’s my compass. And ironically That’s what magnetized the very success I once chased. Turns out, the universe rewards those brave enough to stand in their own truth, no matter how lonely the road feels.
In healing my nervous system and tending to the old wounds of trauma, I unearthed a resilience and self-trust that success alone could never give me. I no longer need permission to be me I am whole, healthy healed, and free.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The industry loves to sell the surface of healing, the pretty altars, the matching journals, the polished self-care rituals as if transformation can be bought in a package.
It feeds our culture’s need for quick results and feel-good moments, but it rarely talks about what it really takes to change your life.
The truth is, no candle or affirmation will create lasting transformation if you’re not doing the deep work healing the nervous system, facing the wounds you’ve been avoiding, and breaking the patterns that keep you stuck.
Healing isn’t a trend; it’s a lifestyle. It’s uncomfortable. It’s raw. And it’s worth every moment because that’s where your authentic, unshakable self emerges.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Here’s what I know to be true we are all spiritual beings having a human experience. I know you’ve heard that before, but I’m not talking about the cute, surface-level quote version. I’m talking about the soul-deep reality that most people never wake up to.
From birth, we’re shaped and programmed by the world around us family, school, religion, society. We’re taught who to be, how to act, what to believe… and over time, we forget who we truly are. We start living from that programming instead of from our spirit.
The human journey, the real one is about unlearning. It’s about peeling back those layers of conditioning and meeting yourself at the soul level. It’s about seeing beyond the illusions and recognizing the truth that’s been hidden in plain sight your whole life.
When you reach that level of knowing, you no longer need the world to tell you who you are, because you know. You stop chasing external validation, and you start creating your life from the inside out. You move through the world with a freedom and peace that can’t be bought, because it comes from a place that can’t be touched.
That’s the awakening. That’s the gift. And once you feel it, you can never go back to sleep
