Today we’d like to introduce you to Tyler-Ann.
Ann, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have always kind of been a “loner” and I tend to isolate myself a lot, and with that my brain tends to never shut off.
I am always coming up with so many different ideas and whatnot, as a kid, I was never really sure what to do with it, but as I’ve gotten older I’ve realized okay, how can I put these ideas and concepts to use? Ultimately I was pretty set on being some type of musician, then fell in love with photography and being able to create aesthetic visuals for people. I love collaborating, especially with musicians and fashion brands! Today I am slowly but surely getting my name out there and trying my best to travel and book as many people as I can, and work with fellow creatives as well!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, it’s been hard! Being a young female in this kind of industry can be tricky, but I am me and tend not to let it stop me, but trust me it has, but that is in the past tense. One thing that can be the hardest is booking gigs that actually pay, the truth is, most don’t but I get it!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Digital Photographer along with Creative Director in a sense. I love telling stories and creating visuals for the shoots! I love coming up with a concept, finding a place to shoot, finding clothes, trying different makeup and hairstyles, all of it!
I think I am most proud of creating a safe environment and working hand in hand with clients, friends and etc.
Honestly, I couldn’t tell you what makes me different, I kind of think that might be something for everyone to figure out themselves.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Just because they’re your friends doesn’t mean they shouldn’t pay you. I shoot with my friends all the time, and sometimes they pitch in for shoots, otherwise, I tend to pay for everything.
I’ve done professional shoots for some old “friends” and I gave them prices and whatnot, then we shoot and I’m ready to send over the images until there is no money to be sent over to me. Safe to say, I now require a deposit before shooting. Better to be safe than sorry.
