Today we’d like to introduce you to Truly Maxine.
Hi Truly, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in the Washington DC area most of my life. My dad sent me to Phoenix in 1985 to live with my mom. I was in the 11th grade. I graduated from North High School in a class of 1986 Cum Laude with an academic scholarship to Arizona State University. I left ASU in my junior year after receiving a job offer at a prominent law firm in Washington DC. I signed on as an accounting assistant.
In my twenty’s and thirties, I worked at several corporate firms and non-profit organizations holding various administrative positions (Accounting Analyst, Executive Assistant, Office Manager, HR, and Event Planner).
I moved to Charlotte NC in 2014 and started my own management company offering virtual assistance in all things administrative, operations, and project management services for start-up and small business owners. I currently have 2 employees and manage (5) real estate and retail moguls who own/operate properties worth 10’s millions of dollars.
I’m always looking to bring on new clients and grow my business. I recently wrote my memoir. (released Oct. 1, 2022, on Amazon titled “I am who I think I am When Intoxicated). This was a dream of mine, to write my story of childhood trauma and my journey through life coping with many traumatic situations I found myself in.
I now live a triumphant life!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I used alcohol as a coping mechanism to deal with my life issues, failed marriages, and being a single mother. while maintaining a thriving career.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Regarding my management business, I’m the lead project manager for my clients who specialize in fix-flips and rental rehabbing residential properties.
I work with contractors to create beautiful floorplans, and design kitchens and bathrooms. I choose the materials, fixtures, lighting, and paint colors and design the landscaping. I also stage the fix-n-flip properties to prepare them to be sold.
I am also an Author! I’ve been writing all of my life, using my writing journals as a source of self-care and therapy.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was quiet, I took care of my younger siblings, read a lot of books, and listened to all kinds of music. I was definitely a Prince, Michael Jackson, and Madonna fan.
I also loved to play with Barbies. I loved to design clothes and hand sew outfits for them and sometimes myself.
I love colorful scarves and headbands.
